  1. VOG introduces Richard Richard: Welcome everyone and thanks for joining me today. Did that scenario strike a cord with you? Well, Cloud is certainly a very popular topic these days. Everyone seems to be talking about it and if you go by the industry buzz there are plenty of Cloud solutions available out there – even though they all may have their own interpretation what the Cloud problem is  So before we go any further, lets take a step back and examine what is driving all these buzz?
  2. Well, as you saw in the video clip, everyone is talking about Cloud these days. Seems like everyone wants to either build a cloud or use it and if you believe the buzz in the industry every vendors has a solution for it. So why are enterprise IT professionals like Felix is still think that cloud is hangin’ on them? The problem is that everyone in the industry has their own definition and meaning of cloud. For some it is all about virtualization, for others it is all about moving to an open source stack and there are quite a few people is cloud is about dismantling your data center in favor of some public cloud. A basic and most fundamental fact that is often missed in all the frenzy and excitement surrounding the Cloud is that Cloud is fundamentally a business issue. IT has a role to play but the main driver for Cloud is the quest for a more agile, efficient and innovative business. It is the desire to do things faster, it the desire to be able to try various things to see what works and what not in a quick and cost effective manner , and it is the desire to have more control and visibility that is at the core of driving demand for Cloud solutions. So how do we, the IT professionals, respond to this need? Well, to be frank, Cloud does require some sort of transformation of traditional IT - which is often seen as too slow, too complex and ultimately too expensive. In order to transform IT into Enterprise Clouds, we need to Create an IT paradigm that unshackles business user and lets them consume IT services without being gated by IT. And this should just not be limited to just simple things like VM or other infrastructure components. Rather we need to be thinking more holistically about delivering any and all IT services – including database, MW, applications, etc. - in a self-service manner. Business users should not only be able to provision resources, they should also be able to monitor the performance of their application, assess the cost of delivering a services, and seek way to optimize business. The inherent complexity in the existing IT environment needs to be reduced. IT organizations today are burdened with complex maze of tools and technologies – that require way too much manual efforts to keep it operational – which increases cost, leads to delays, and causes failures. In order to be able to deliver cloud, you need to standardize, consolidate, and automate your IT environment. Finally, it is just not enough to manage IT in isolation. Business are craving to get more value out their IT investment and it is imperative that the IT be managed from a business perspective. This requires IT not just to support the applications by keeping them up and running, rather they need to be able understand and manage customer experience, business transactions and business services. A cloud that lacks application-awareness and business-insight might provide a short term relief but it is certainly not the solution your business is looking for.
  3. Today we shipped Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c to address these challenges. *** the C in 12c is a commitment to delivering cloud ready products for us and EM is leading the way as the first Oracle product to receive this version number designation. *** It has taken us over three years to prepare this product and we have taken the assistance of hundreds of our valued customers to make it happen. Enterprise Manager has always been the best solution for managing your Oracle stack and this release further enhances those capabilities – as you will see in the due course of this presentation. In addition, we have really worked hard to deliver a complete, integrated and business driven enterprise cloud management solution that fully understand the dynamics and constraints of a typical enterprise IT and tries to deliver a complete and a practical solution. Richard may want to use some stats. Like how many features have been added or how many person days it took to deliver the product. Essentially this is a major commitment from Oracle and we have made substantial improvements to the product to deliver the solution – not a superficial makeover
  4. So what we exactly we mean by a complete, integrated and business-driven cloud management solution? There are three key aspects of Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c that help accomplish this:   Complete Cloud Lifecycle Solution To start with, Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c contains solutions to manage all phases of the building, managing, and consuming an enterprise cloud. Using Oracle Enterprise manager 12c you can build and manage a rich catalog of cloud services – whether it is Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Database-as-a-Service, or Platform-as-a-Service , all from a single product.   Integrated Cloud Stack Management Secondly, Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c enables integrated management of the entire cloud stack – all the way from application to disk. Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c therefore eliminates much of the integration pains and costs that customers would have to otherwise incur by trying to create a cloud environment by integrating multiple point solutions.      Business-Driven Clouds Finally, Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c enables creation of application-aware and business-driven clouds that has deep insight into applications, business services and transactions. Applications – whether they are packaged or home grown – power your businesses and therefore it is critical that an enterprise Cloud platform is not only able to run these applications but also has deep business insight and visibility. As the leading providers of business applications and the middleware that many of your custom applications are built on top of, we are able to offer you a cloud solution that is optimized for business services.
  5. Lets start with Complete Cloud Lifecycle Solution
  6. You remember this guy from the movie? He is Felix! His main concerns – like many of you – is not just how to provision VMs on demand. The reality is that for him and you, the Cloud problem is much bigger. It is about transforming your IT into a more agile and automated infrastructure - that can deal with their mission critical applications, MW, databases etc. and embraces the breadth of their env - physical, virtual, etc. The definition of "virtualization" is also a lot broader to him - besides server virtualization, technologies like Solaris containers, RAC, ASM play an equally big role in "virtualizing" IT resources from user/application point of view. As such, unless he can find a cloud solution that can deal with the breadth and depth of his env and enterprise apps , he does not have a practical solution.
  7. That is exactly the problem we are trying to solve. Our solution is designed to give you a unified and complete solution that deals with the breadth and depth of your enterprise. It offers you a guide path to setup, consume, and manage cloud services and is particularly optimized for Oracle products.
  8. As we hear more and more from our customers, we figure out that some customers are Greenfield , they want to start fresh Cloud projects with brand new hardware and software and in some cases, even new data center, while some others are Brownfield, in the sense, they want to transform their existing assets into a consolidated cloud platform. It is therefore important to plan out the Cloud deployment model starting with the discovery and baselining of existing assets. Enterprise Manager 12 provides automated discovery capabilities that can find existing assets and then manage them. We have a Consolidation planner that can provide P2P, P2V, P2Exa advisories based upon both technical and functional constraints (such as production and test cannot be co-located). Then comes setting up the Cloud. This is a very, very important phase for everyone who believes that cloud is transformational, that it is not merely a web layer on top of pre-existing, complex, automation scripts. We, in Development, spent a considerable amount of time over the last couple of years in defining and architecting the resource models for the cloud-right from Storage to Applications, for both physical and virtualized infrastructure, so that as customers you can maximize the benefits of consolidation and cloud. Enterprise Manager 12c offers capabilities such as Bare Metal provisioning of Hypervisor, setting up of server and storage pools that make the life of the Cloud Administrator easier. We can zone these resources based on cost center or QOS. Enterprise Manager leverages our Virtualization Storage Connect technology, where we have worked with vendors like Netapp, Hitachi, Fujitsu, etc to drive storage automation via best-of-breed storage technologies. And finally after we have set up the Cloud infrastructure, we can enable access control, quotas, retirement policies, etc to make the service available to cloud users.
  9. Deploying application in the cloud is a huge challenge.  Typically one either deploys various components of the application individually and then manually wires them together.  Some vendors even allow you to deploy a bunch of VMs together but you still have the hard and painful job of connecting the dots. The problem gets even worse if you start to think other deployment constraints – such as which components should be co-located and which not, what should be the network topology of the application (i.e. DB and MW should be in different network segments), which components can scale out and if so how should the scale out happen. As you know, we recently announce Oracle VM 3.0. We now have full integration with OVM 3.0 for virtualization management and cloud resource management. Oracle Virtual Assembly Builder and Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c address this challenge. Using OVAB, application developers and architects  can model the application topology graphically, define all dependencies and deployment constraints, and package the entire application in form of what we call an application assembly. These assembly can then be uploaded to the centralized software library in Enterprise Manager for self-service deployments. We (Oracle) plan to offer assemblies for all our products which will allow you to deploy any of our products – including packaged applications – by click of a button. Enterprise Manager has a live link back to Oracle which will notify you of the availability of new assemblies and download them if you are interested.
  10. Once you build an application, you need to test them. Over the last few years, we have invested a lot in creating a complete testing portfolio that allow you to test both application changes and the changes database or lower level. A very unique aspect of our testing solution is that we allow to you to capture production and replay in the test environment – thereby allowing you to test your application with real production workload. We have significantly enhanced these capabilities in this new release. First, we have just released the latest version of Application Testing Suite which includes Oracle Functional Testing, Oracle Load Testing and Oracle Test Manager. Three key enhancements in this release of Application Testing Suite that I would like to mention are: Test starter kit for Oracle’s Siebel applications. This provides you pre-built scripts for functional and load testing for easier and more efficient testing for your Siebel CRM implementations. This complements our EBS test starter kits already available. Deeper integration with Oracle Enterprise Manager’s middleware and database diagnostics such as ADDM and AWR reports that will improve testing efficiency and productivity by enabling testers to detect performance bottlenecks faster and with less effort. Finally, we support structured, business-driven testing based on testing industry most widely adopted methodology, TMap. TMap is industry leading risk-based approach for structured software testing that helps you manage and standardize test processes. In the area of infrastructure testing, we are announcing a new solution for automated application testing called Application Replay. It complements Oracle Real Application Testing feature for Oracle Database by providing the same functionality for the middle tier. Unlike traditional application testing tools, Application Replay uses real, production workloads to generate load against applications under test and does not require any script development or maintenance. With Application Replay you can easily reduce your testing time by more than 80%. It provides the most efficient, optimized and highest quality testing for validating application infrastructure changes for all your Web and packaged Oracle applications. Another important part of testing, that is especially critical in a cloud environment but often gets overlooked, is that of test data management. When you allow users to provision databases/data in a self-service manner, it is all the more important that you protect the critical and sensitive data. Our data masking feature allows you to protect personally sensitive information by “masking” them. New to this release of Oracle Enterprise Manager is the ability to discover data dependency and modeling. This functionality allow you to discover data model and sensitive data in your environment so that you can protect them through data masking. We also provide data masking templates for Oracle EBS and Fusion applications where all your sensitive columns and masking formats have been predefined. Additionally, you will probably want to create smaller data subset – both to protect the data but also optimize the resource utilization. Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c includes a new data subsetting feature that lets you create smaller databases with subsets of application data that is relationally consistent so that you can perform realistic testing and development on just 1% or 5% of production data. EM 12.1 is major release for our testing products and you will continue to see more innovative and cutting edge enhancements in our upcoming releases.
  11. As we all know, Cloud enables a layer of abstraction that hides the underlying complexities of the platform from the end-user. This abstraction is delivered via a Self-Service interface. We have, over the months, seen a wide range of customers, with different usage needs of the Self-Service interface. Some data centers want to enable infrastructure provisioning via Self-service (IaaS), some want to enable Database (DbaaS) and Java Platform Provisioning (PaaS) while others want an automated way to run test Loads/regressions on an existing platform (TaaS). In Enterprise Manager 12c, we have an out-of-box Self-Service Application that lets end-users deploy a wide range of these services. End users can choose to provision Virtual Assemblies, databases or Java applications on the cloud platform using a Service Catalog. As a Self-Service user, you can not only deploy the services, but also monitor them. You can also perform tasks such as backing up the database or scaling up the Weblogic servers. Our vision of self-service to allow you to expose any of your IT services through this interface. IaaS, DBaaS, PaaS are just the starting point. Very soon you will see us introducing functionality to automate test life cycle. Using the self-service interface, you will able to push a button to provision the test application and data, run the rest, collect performance and health statics, and de-provision the environment when the testing has been completed. And finally, [touch of humor], if you do not like our Self-Service Console, you can use our APIs or put your own branding on the Console.
  12. Once the Cloud is operational, it needs to be monitored and managed on a continuing basis. With Enterprise manager 12c, we provide persona-specific views for the cloud administrators and cloud consumers so that they can monitor what’s going on. The Administrators, who are responsible for the health of the Cloud can track the incoming requests and fulfillment status. They can drill down into the database, middleware, server or storage layer and detect potential bottlenecks. We also provide necessary automation out-of-the –box so that they can add more servers and storage into the cloud infrastructure. The Cloud consumer (Application owner) can monitor the overall service level and scale out resources if needed. Enterprise manager 12c lets them define policies based on either schedule or performance, and associate automated remediation actions such as scale-up or scale-down or power-off with those policies. [Provide one or two examples of schedule and performance based policies like shutdown during weekends to avoid higher metering].
  13. While Cloud Shared Services and Self-Service application sounds exciting, they also bring some challenges. As different tenants start sharing the same piece of platform or infrastructure, there needs to be accountability on the usage, else resources will get hogged.. Also, we need to acknowledge that the ease of Self-Service Provisioning in itself may lead to over-consumption of resources resulting in sprawl. To mitigate this, organizations often meter the usage and optionally chargeback [or show back] the tenants . Though an IT organization may not actually charge back its LOBs, this provides a transparent mechanism to budget resources and optimize the cloud platform on an ongoing basis. What we have in Enterprise manager 12c is a very sophisticated and flexible Metering and Chargeback mechanism where one can define models based on Fixed cost, Configuration (such as version, licenses) or utilization or a combination of these. We provide you the ability to meters resources at various levels – host/VM level, database and middleware. [Give one or two examples]. On the reporting side of things, we have integration with LDAP so that we can traverse the organizational hierarchy and generate the consumption report at various levels-individual, department, etc. The IT metrics can then be fed into a billing tool such as Oracle’s own Billing and revenue Management solution, should any organization want to generate a bill for the tenants/consumers. Enterprise Manager also provides a rich performance management database (PMDB – AWR, JVMD Repository) which provides you historical view cloud performance. This functionality in conjunction with metering and chargeback functionality enables you to manage, monitor and optimize cloud performance, capacity and costs.
  14. Hope you enjoyed the demo. Before we move forward, let me invite Tom Grimes of GE to have a few words. GE and Tom have been a long time user of Oracle Enterprise Manager . Welcome Tom! Q. 1: Tom – can you tell the audience a bit about how GE is using Enterprise Manager and what are some of the key benefits that you have been able to realize? Thank you Richard….it’s a pleasure to be here. GE has enjoyed a long standing and very positive relationship with Oracle. Our IT departments utilize Oracle technology to its full extent to support our customers with platforms that meet their complex business needs. We have been leveraging Enterprise Manager to drive IT efficiency and ensure standardized management for large numbers of database and ERP related tech stacks. Enterprise Manager has become a critical component that brings together each part of our systems, allowing us to manage them in a way that optimizes how we support both our internal and external customers. From basic monitoring and alerting to more complex tuning of the sub-systems behind the critical applications that allow GE to operate…Enterprise Manager also provides us with a vehicle for provisioning our tech stack components and assuring consistency for our enterprise configurations.
  15. This slide will come up while Tom is answering the question. Q2: That’s great Tom. Thanks. Now we just talked about all the exciting Cloud Management functionality. How do you foresee using these capabilities within GE. A2: We have many systems supporting a varied number of uses and large user base. It is critical for us to remain agile in order to respond efficiently to different needs. With Enterprise managers Cloud Management features we can Provide elastic environments for multiple environments requiring changing resource levels. ----add example (what does elasticity mean to us in our business context) Leverage assembly packaging (templating) to create standardized deployable platforms that are rapidly provisionable while also providing internal customers with rapid deployment of reliable platform services. Realize cost savings from labor reduction, rework from errors and downtime. Automated "pay-by-the-drink" use of deployed environments. (Metering and Chargeback) …allowing systems to be accountable for what and how much they use. --examples (discuss benefits of that accountability) Thanks Tom.
  16. Now lets talk about Integrated Cloud Stack Management
  17. In order to summarize the challenges IT environment face on that front, lets go back to the scenario described in the video for a second. What we saw there was that Felix is overwhelmed with all the new tools he think he must have in order to do the job and actually a more realistic number is 20-30 if you are going to do it the traditional way. Now this is something fundamentally wrong here. As we have discussed, a root cause IT woes is complexity and we need to simply this complexity in order to create a Cloud. Adding more disparate tool only increases that complexity and takes you in a direction that is exactly the opposite. We believe there is a better approach.
  18. And that approach is to a more integrated and engineered technology stack. In particular, move away from bolt-on and piece meal management, rather embed management into the core solution and deliver a complete, unified, and integrated solution for managing the entire stack. With Oracle Enterprise Manager, you have a single point of control for your entire stack – be it for monitoring health and availability, managing performance or configuration management or automating lifecycle operations such as provisioning and patching. The other important aspect of EM is that it provides unparallel depth when it comes to managing Oracle software. We just don’t believe in building a shallow and bolt-on management solution. Rather we instrument our base products to make sure that the products are designed with manageability in mind and management functionality in EM is built at the same time our core products are created – often by the same developers. This unique approach allows us to deliver you a unique management solution – that is designed from grounds up to reduce complexity, enhance automation and optimize performance and availability. 19. Starting with our applications tier, EM12 has added new Fusion Applications management capabilities. Some of the key aspects include: * Our user experience monitoring solution for FA, now ships with an accelerator for Fusion Applications * Our discovery and monitoring capabilities, not only recognizes the application servers, and java application deployments, but also models product families and products * Business KPI monitoring is available for these products and product families * We also have meta-data based correlation of these business metrics with IT system metrics, to accelerate resolution of business issues * Finally, we have added automation capabilities to scale out, backup, and restore FA application instances. This can dramatically reduce the time and resources you need to manage and maintain your FA instances
  20. We continue to drive down the Total cost of ownership of our middleware solutions through introduction of new automation capabilities. Firstly, we have automated some of the most common tasks in monitoring a Middleware environment. Most of you will view the dependency between components, navigate across them, and look for occurrence of related incidents or performance problems between them. You can now do these activities very simply through our Routing Topology Viewer. You are also continuously monitoring log files for occurrence of any exceptions or errors. Our Log viewer allows you to search log files across components even if they are spread across WLS domains. Secondly we have added some unique capabilities for Diagnostic automation. Now many of you may already be familiar with the Diagnostic Advisors we have built for the Oracle DB. We, for the first time in the industry, we are now offering similar capabilities for the WLS tier as well. Just like the DB, the Middleware Diagnostic Advisor analyzes an hours worth of performance data and generate performance findings every hour. There are recommendations associated with each of the findings that can help you tune your application performance. Currently there are 6 types of findings we generate and we will continue to add to this list in each upcoming release. Another key innovation on this front is our ability to automate the diagnostics of key performance and business KPIs. We have built meta-driven correlations that automatically identify related system metrics that could be the root cause of any issue with the aforementioned KPIs. Finally, we continue to deliver on new capabilities for provisioning automation As you know, provisioning activities can often consume 40-50% of a typical administrators time, and we want to help optimize this so that this time can be spent on more value added activities. One of the key new capabilities in EM12 is automation capabilities for scaling WLS and SOA domains, as well as automation for deployment and Java EE applications With EM 12 we are confident that unprecedented levels of automation we offer will be extremely valuable to the FMW admin community
  21. We continue to push the envelope in database management making databases easier to manage than ever. In the area of performance diagnostics, we have introduced three new capabilities: Real Time ADDM, Compare Period ADDM and ASH Analytics. You already use ADDM today to suggest findings based on analysis of AWR snapshots. When databases become non-responsive or hung, Real Time ADDM can help diagnose the root cause even when you can’t even connect to the database through a normal SQL*Plus session. It makes two types of connections into the database to come with an on-the-spot analysis of the problem: the first is a JDBC session where it collects in-memory performance statistics, while the other is a diagnostic connection which bypasses normal connection layer and does not acquire any latches to connect. This is very useful when you can’t even connect to the database to identify the problem whether it’s a deadlocks, hang, shared pool contention etc. What would your DBA do if your business users report a problem about their batch process running slower than usual. In these cases, Compare Period ADDM can help triage the problem and direct your DBA to the source of the problem, whether it is a parameter change, new SQLs present in the database workload or other system changes that is creating a differential in the performance of that batch process. There are other times when a DBA wants to do a deep drill down into one particular performance problem and perform in-depth analysis. What we’ve done in Enterprise Manager is transformed the Top Activity page you use today into a comprehensive analytical tool. The ASH Analytics starts with the same view of ASH with the details of the time window below that you see in 11g. Now you can navigate forward and back in time *AND* expand the time window of interest – similar to Google Finance. You can rollup, drilldown, and slice or dice the performance data across by different performance dimensions, such as session, wait class or service and filter by specific dimensions. For example, you can filter by a session and see the db time consumption for that session and the wait classes within that session. You can even switch to a Treemap view that allows administrators to explore performance data using predefined performance dimension hierarchies. In the area of database automation, we have tackled two very difficult problems: mass upgrades of multiple databases and zero downtime patching. When enterprises certify on a database standard, say 11.2.0.3, the job falls on the DBA to upgrade the hundreds of development and test systems to the new version. We have automated the upgrade process in Enterprise Manager by provisioning the new Oracle database version, running the database upgrade and catalog scripts automatically saving the DBAs hundreds of hours and bring the databases inline with the IT standards. Finally, in the area of patching, we have introduced an innovative approach to database patching. Traditional patching required you to take backups, take the database down, run opatch and make all the file system changes to software, then apply the post-patch scripts and bring the database back online. EM 12 provisions a pre-patched ORACLE HOME and incurs minimal downtime while it switches to the new ORACLE HOME, the post-patch scripts are then run and the database is brought automatically, thereby increasing business productivity. We are very pleased to bring these capabilities to our DBA community who are working harder than ever and we are confident this will make their lives that much easier.
  22. Engineered systems management was another key focus for in this release. You can manage the entire lifecycle of Exadata Database Machine and Exalogic Elastic Cloud from monitoring to management and ongoing maintenance for the entire engineered system, HW and SW. It provides a unified view of hardware and software where you can view hardware components such as compute nodes, Exadata cells, and Infiniband switches and see the placement of software running on them along with their resource utilization. In the case of Exadata Database Machine, DBAs can also drilldown from the database to the storage layer of Exadata to identify and diagnose problems such as performance bottlenecks or hardware faults. Lights-out monitoring capability of Enterprise Manager is likewise optimized for these engineered systems where metrics and thresholds are predefined so that administrators can get timely notifications when issues arise. In addition, hardware and software incidents are automatically detected and service requests logged to reduce problem resolution time. For both Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Exalogic Elastic Cloud, management is engineered together with hardware and software to provide not just high performance and availability but also ease of management.
  23. Well, the charter for a Cloud provider is to offer services with minimal disruption. It has been observed across the industry, that a fair share of these disruptions come from mis-configuration and/or missing recommended patches. What we have in Enterprise manager is the ability to integrate with My Oracle Support and leverage the intelligence/knowledge base that has been accumulated from Oracle Support, Engineering and other customers. What we do is use the configuration to provide advisories on missing patches, uncertified configurations or an approaching end-of-life. We also suggest optimal upgrade paths, so that the current patches are preserved across a major upgrade. Finally, not only do we provide proactive advisories for our software layer, we have also put instrumentations in place to capture issues with our hardware and send them over to support before it brings the Cloud to a halt. [Mention “Phone home” as a talking term]
  24. The core of Enterprise Manager that enables us to provide all the various solutions that I talked about is its framework. Businesses that depend on Enterprise Manager to manage its data centers, want a product that is robust, easy to use, performant, scalable and extensible. The new Enterprise Manager provides better performance and can scale easily to tens of thousands of targets. Its agent is lighter weight than before and has been rewritten to make it more robust and resilient. We have made Enterprise Manager components such as agent updates, diagnostic checks, plug-ins, compliance policies, etc., self-updateable . Any time a critical agent update or new DP is available, the EM admin will notified and after reviewing the update, by the click of a button, he can automatically deploy these updates, if desired. The are many security enhancements in Enterprise Manager 12c. We have hardened security by providing support for SSH key pairs and Kerberos authentication. We now support direct LDAP authentication with commonly used products like Microsoft Active Directory as well as OID as well as integration with Oracle Access Manager. Enterprise Manager 12 has a new web interface. It is more intuitive and provides a richer user experience with menu-based navigation and ability to customize look, feel and content of pages. It has a more powerful search capability and allows each user to select their own EM Home Page to suit their business function. Finally, we have really enhanced our configuration management capability. Over the last few years, we had acquired many innovative solutions and all of them are fully integrated into a single console – which provide an integrated and app centric config and compliance solution that is high extensible and that has been designed to handle the cloud scale. All these framework enhancements provide a powerful platform for us to build and deliver solutions that are rich in functionality and at the same time robust, reliable and easy to use.
  25. We need to weave in the following statement: *** Back in release 10g (correct?) we introduced our interoperability framework. To date we have over 50 plug-ins and connectors we have developed jointly with our partners. This is our continued commitment to openness and interoperability. Enterprise Manager’s partner ecosystem has always been an important part of our offering and has grown even stronger with this latest release.   Partners work with us in two primary ways:  extending Enterprise Manager’s capability to non-Oracle environments and helping our customers design and implement their IT management strategies. Today we announced new Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) resources including new and updated OPN Specializations, a new Oracle Enterprise Manager Extensibility Development Kit, and enhancements to the Oracle Validated Integration Program.    Many of our partners are here today, and we welcome you and thank you for being part of our ecosystem.  I’d like to highlight a few of them.    Dell’s Force10 Plug-In has already completed Oracle Validated Integration, and we congratulate them.  And we understand our friends at NetApp are also very close.   Also, OPN Diamond level partners, Accenture, Capgemini and CSC are leveraging Oracle Enterprise Manager in their cloud-based offerings.  We thank you and all of our other Specialized partners for your investment of time, energy and expertise in Enterprise Manager   Finally, for our customers -- you should know that Specialized partners are out there and ready to help you.  To date, there are more than a thousand global IT professionals certified to implement Oracle Enterprise Manager and/or Oracle and/or Oracle Application Quality Management solutions for customers.
  26. So what we exactly we mean by a complete, integrated and business-driven application management solution?
  27. Going back to the video. Our friend Felix correctly understands that he is not building the cloud for the sake of it. Rather he is just responding to the needs of his business – which runs on a sleuth of packaged and home grown on business applications. So the fundamental question before him is: CAN HIS CLOUD RUN THESE APPLICATIONS BETTER – IF AT ALL? Will it help him optimize customer experience and business operations? In short, how can he deliver a cloud that will mean as much to business as it means to him. This is probably the most challenging of the problems with technologies that manage cloud. This is in fact one of our unique capabilities.
  28. We enable you to build a Cloud that are optimized for business applications. Oracle Applications power many of your business process/services and many of your custom apps are built using our middleware solution. We have invested years in building deep management for these applications and no one claim to understand and manage them better than us. As such, a Cloud powered by Oracle Enterprise Manager can not only run your mission critical applications, it also provides you deep insight into business services delivered by those applications. We call this approach business-driven application management and it has three main capabilities.    - User Experience Management helps us monitor the experience of business users. It is the ultimate measure of application performance and availability     - Business Transaction Management gives us visibility into transactions that are executing across multiple components in the application. If your application is deployed to the cloud as an assembly, as we described earlier, then we can give you visibility into transactions across individual components of an assembly. We can even monitor transactions across assemblies or those using external services     - Business Service Management helps monitor, diagnose, and manage the life-cycle of services that your transaction is executing across. These service may be developed on many different technology components, and we support them all.
  29. Real User Experience Insight is our end user monitoring product. It monitors the actual end user experience by monitoring network traffic and can provide a complete and accurate view of who your users are, where are the located, what are they doing, whether they are getting the desired SLAs or not. This solution works with both custom and packaged applications. For Oracle applications, we ship pre-built knowledge modules that allow you to monitor business process and activities. We have Of the 100's of improvements we have made in this release, I would like to highlight a few significant ones * We've re-architected our product to allow it scale to 5x the size we used to able to support before. Some of our largest customer, such as eBay will be very pleased with this * WE have also enhanced our monitoring capabilities. We now evaluate KPIs every 1 minutes (from 5 minutes before) which will allow you to detect problems faster and respond quickly. We have also added a notion of a violation count. You no longer need to monitor lots of metrics such as frustrated users, slow pages, server errors, content errors, etc....all of these are now represented as a single metric known as a violation count. This will make monitoring much easier. * Enhanced session diagnostics , where we now enable custom views and include reporting of web service calls. This will allow you to more easily view a users sessions, see exactly what action they took at each point in their session, and even replay the screen view they saw We believe these enhancements will continue to grow the usage of this product
  30. We talked about several of our interesting business-driven application management capabilities . Lets now see how customers are using these capabilities to help their business. To do that, let me invite Cissy Abraham from eBay.
  31. Q: Cissy, welcome. You are one of the biggest users of our Real user experience insight. Can you please tell us why you selected this product and how you are using it?
  32. The second part of our solution is Business Transaction management. It provides you transaction visibility, helps you manage transaction performance and SLA and enables you to monitor exceptions.  Transaction Visibility: Tracking individual transactions and visibility in to the business context of each transaction, including the consumer context and the business payload  Performance & SLA Management: Monitoring, alerting and reporting on performance characteristics of end-to-end transactions in real-time  Exception Management: Monitoring failures, and root-case analysis to rapidly locate performance bottlenecks, errors, and incomplete transactions * Here too we invested heavily in making sure our products can scale to the large sized environments our customers are deploying them in. We now support 10x more services than we used to be able to do from prior releases * We have also added significant new functionality to allow configurable monitoring of transactions. For the first time we can monitor aggregate performance of transaction, giving a quick view of potential performance hot spots in your environment * We have also made the message logging and KPI monitoring much more flexible. You can now control, whether you want to capture the message log, and if you do what KPI's and attributes of the message you want to capture
  33. The 3rd part of the BDAM solution is Business Service Management * The key capability we introduced in EM12 is the ability for you to create a Composite Application (CA). A Composite Application is a single entity this represents all the end-to-end system components of your application environment * We automatically select all the web services that are exposed by the application artifacts included in the CA, and enable to you define them as Business Services using a Service target type construct * We also allow you define new Services on the Composite Application, which can represent higher level Business Services that may span multiple system components within your business application * Finally, we have significantly enhanced out SLA capabilities that allow you to create contractual SLAs, and track and alert of SLA violations in real time
