What Holds us Back
Stage One – Definitions of Time
Stage Two – Analysis of Time
Stage Three – Visualize the Week
Stage Four – Categorize Time
Stage Five – ROI of Time
Stage Six – Visualize the Month
What Hacks Do You Use?
Q & A
4. Definitions of Time
Outcome: The single most important aspect of
this Stage is defining time. We have defined time
as moveable and non-moveable time.
Exercise: Define time in one-hour buckets for
the upcoming week
6. Analysis of Time
Outcome: Building upon the learns of Stage
One, layer in simple analysis. Answer three
questions:
What got done (planned)?
What didn’t get done (planned)?
What got done (not planned)?
Exercise: Define time in one-hour buckets for
the upcoming week
8. Visualize the Week
Outcome: Building upon the learns of Stage
One & Stage Two, the analysis stays the same
but the time increment changes. Instead of
forecasting one-hour blocks, forecast 15 minute
increments for the upcoming week.
Exercise: Define time in 15 minute increments
for the upcoming week
10. Categorize Time
Outcome: Building upon the learns of Stage One,
Two & Three, the time increment stays the same (15
minute) but the analysis is modified. Instead of
focusing solely on the planning aspects, categorize
time. Answer these questions.
Where did you spend the most time (by category)?
Where did you spend the least time (by category)?
What was the most effective use of time (by category)?
Exercise: Define time in 15 minute increments for
the upcoming week
12. ROI of Time
Outcome: Building upon the learns of Stage One,
Two, Three and Four, the time increment stays the
same (15 minute) but the analysis is modified once
again. The largest area of improvement is knowing
yield as it relates to time. To determine yield, answer
these questions.
Where are you receiving the best yield of time?
Where are you receiving the least yield of time?
What is enabling the best yield of time?
Exercise: Define time in 15 minute increments for
the upcoming week
14. Visualize the Month
Outcome: Building upon the learns of Stage One - Stage Five, the time
increment stays the same (15 minute) for the upcoming week but forecast
the next three weeks after in one-hour blocks. The analysis stays the same.
The week that is the farthest away is less clear and the week that is closest
is the most clear.
