2. Razer Gaming Company
• Started back in the early 90’s, Razer’s goal
was to become the leader in creation of
computer gaming products
• Created by Min-Liang Tan and Robert
“Razerguy” Krakoff in San Diego CA
• Design based on 3 fundamentals:
– Technology
– Ergonomics
– Validation from its users
• Razer products range from computer
systems, mouse and
keyboards, apparel, software and accessories
3. Project Christine
• Project Christine is a new concept
design for a PC that allows users to
build and customize it their way
• Razer’s first attempt at a desktop PC
• Users can choose individual modules
to connect to the main tower
• PCI-Express architecture allows for
each module to be automatically
synched

4. Project Christine (cont.)
• As new PC technology is
created, Project Christine can
adapt by allowing extra slots for
modules
• The customizability of Project
Christine eliminate the need to
replace entire systems
• Each individual module features a
liquid cooling system that also is
noise cancelling
5. What This Means
for the PC World
• A new form of PC like Project Christine will allow
users of all levels the ability to organize their
desktop to fit their needs
• Mixing/matching and construction is finally made
easy
• If this type of PC catches on, Razer hopes other
manufacturers could build parts to add on
6. What This Means
for the PC World
(cont.)
•
Understanding computers can be made easier.
•
Young students can use this type of PC to learn
what each module can do for your computer
•
Can allow students to easily build their first PC
•
Possibly unlocking desires to learn more about
how the PC works
•
“Module Computers” may become the new trend
of PC
7. Possible Problems
•
One of the main problems that could be found with this PC is having to buy the
multiple modules.
•
Replacing or adding new modules can be expensive.
•
Could be solved with multiple year warranties or replacement parts
•
Having this new PC and its tremendous gaming abilities would only add to the
sedentary activities of our youth but is great for those who need a strong and fast
PC for work.
The Razer Gaming brandwas created in San Diego California by CEO Min-Liang Tan and President Robert “Razerguy” Krakoff. Their goal was to create a brand of gaming software that was second to none. By using current gamer’s input on what they wanted in their products, Razer grew in popularity and was known as the company “for gamers, by gamers”. They designed their products based on 3 fundamental ideas; the best technology, solid ergonomics, and validation from it’s users. Razer products range from computer systems, mouse and keyboards, apparel, software and accessories.
Project Christine is Razer’s first attempt at a PC. This ground breaking new style of PC allows for users to simply mix and match modules to their main tower in order to get the performance they require out of their PC. Users can add the CPU, memory, graphics card, storage or power supply module by simply plugging it in and letting the PCI-Express architecture built into Project Christine to automatically sync them together. The video provided is a teaser trailer showing off the new PC by Razer.
Project Christine, or PC (clever right?), has the ability to adapt to new forms of technology by providing users extra slots within the tower. All the user needs to do is plug the new module directly into the tower and allow it to sync. Having this ability to customize and adapt, Project Christine eliminates the need to replace entire systems, saving customers enormous amounts of time and money. Another interesting concept of Project Christine is it’s modules unique design. Each module features its own mineral oil cooling system as well as a noise cancelling design. Razer also features a RAM, graphics, speakers, processors, Blue-ray drives, and visual LED control and maintenance module that can be bought separately.
This new design of PC is groundbreaking because it’s the first of its kind that allows computer users of all levels the ability to mix/match and build their own PC. In the past, detailed hardware made it nearly impossible for the average person to understand what parts work together and how to connect them. This simple building block design makes that process much more tolerable and does not require any former technical knowledge. If Razer’s Project Christine catches on, they hope other manufacturers will begin building parts to add onto the tower. This could mean large deals made with other software companies over time.
For young computer users, Project Christine can be the doorway to learning about computers and how the parts fit together. By mixing and matching modules into the tower, users can learn what a graphics card can do for the PC’s visual aspects, or how to increase storage space by adding multiple storage modules. In many cases, this could be the user’s first time “building” a PC, possibly opening the door to a hobby or career with building computers. This new design of PC is a interesting attempt at making the understanding of computers easier. In the near future, many PC creators might learn from this design and build their own PC that is easy for its users to understand and build.
Some of the small problems that might be involved with Project Christine circle around the modules themselves. Replacing old or broken modules, or adding new ones can be expensive and time consuming. In some cases, users can connect multiple modules of the same type (i.e. storage modules). Because the stock PC probably will not come with the multiple modules, users would have to buy more. However, this problem could be taken care of by possibly including multiple year warranties or replacement parts for Project Christine’s modules. Also, having this new PC design with its tremendous gaming abilities would only add to the sedentary activities that are plaguing our everyday lifestyles. On the other hand, it could be a smart buy for those who need a strong and fast PC for work that is easy to configure.
