How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
1. How did you use media technologies in the construction
and research, planning and evaluation stages?
The media technologies we used in constructing our media products were, Celtx, Blogger, iMovie,
Adobe after effect, slide share and Garage band. These programs were all beneficial in completing our
products to the best of our abilities.
We also promoted our media products on online sites, using You tube and Facebook to get feedback on
our work.
2. Celtx is an online site where we are able to create and store media scripts and plans. We were also able to
share our works onto networking sites such as Facebook and get feedback on our ideas.
We explored with using Celtx creating a script of a dramatic horror scene. This helped us understand how
to use the program and present our work in script form.
We used the program Celtx for writing up scripts and drafting different ideas for our film trailer. We wrote
up the storyboard of our film trailer on Celtx, creating different scripts for each scene. We also wrote up
plans for death scenes writing up the actions and dialogue of the characters.
3. Blogger
We used blogger to suggest our on going research of different media theories showing how they
helped develop our media production using our understanding of them and by taking that knowledge
and challenging the forms and conventions. We also analysed media terms portraying our
understanding and showing how linked into our own research.
Blogger was used to show our progress and on going work through out the year. With blogger you
are able to see the development of my understanding of media theory and terminology. My blog
keeps you up to date with what I had done each day, the different materials I looked at and how I
aim to benefit from it taking different ideas and using them to make my own media products.
4. iMovie
We used iMovie for the constructing and editing of our film trailer . We used the programme as we
found iMovie good for cutting and ordering scenes. iMovie also had good transitions such as fades
and swipes which is found to work really well in showing the change from one scene to another.
iMovie also had a variety of effects in which you used to set different tones and atmospheres
throughout our trailer. Importing music into iMovie was very manageable as well and I found overall
it was a great programme in helping complete our trailer.
5. Adobe After Effects
Adobe after effects helped with the effects on the trailer making scenes appear more
realistic. We used abode after effects as it has a large range of effects and plug- ins which
helped us be more creative with our media trailer and allowed us to experiment with how we
applied and cropped the effect into it. Adobe after effects also allowed us to overlay effects
allowing us to be even more creative and gave our trailer a more realistic approach towards
horror.
6. Slide share
The program slide share allowed us to upload documents from power point into a format which then allowed
our work to be display onto our blogs. This was very useful as in my blog I wanted to have more visual content
so it is easier to see and understand what topic I am discussing.
7. Garage band
Garage band is a program which contains a variety of different instruments, from that you are able to play and record
your own songs. We used garage band to creating part of the instrumental diegetic music such as the violins building
up. We also recorded vocals of people mocking and laughing and experimented with different effects which allowed
the sound to be more relate able to horror and fit perfectly with our trailer.
8. YouTube
We uploaded video drafts of our Psychosis trailer onto youtube as youtube is one of the biggest online
networking sites. We thought that if we were to upload we would gain viewers and an audience which
would give their thoughts of the trailer which would then have an impact onto benefiting our media
product.
9. Facebook
We also used a social networking site called face book as we thought it would be a good idea to get the most
feedback from people and to spread word of mouth about our film. From this we got a lot of positive input into
ideas on how to improve our media products to make our marketing better suited for those who like horror.
We found face book was the best way to share our film and we received a few followers on the first day.
