2. Before We Begin...
What is film processing?
The first step in developing your own photos!
“Prepares” the film in order to make prints.

3. Materials Needed
• 1. A darkroom. MUST BE PITCH BLACK!
NO LIGHT!

3. Bottle opener, scissors, timer, thermometer,
gradual containers

5. Chemicals:
developer
fixer, stop bath
hypo

6. Let’s Begin:
Inside the Darkroom
•Use the bottle opener to
open the film cassette.
•Take the film out and trim
both sides
**only touch the sides of the
film**

7. Inside the Darkroom
•Load the film into the reel
•Turn the sides of the reel to
wind up the film.
•Put reel back onto spool
and place inside tank.
*Once lid is sealed, you can leave
darkroom*

8. Time For
Developer:
**1 roll of film requires 3 oz.
of developer to 12 oz. of
water**
•Take temp of developer
mixture. (Ex: 75 degrees).

9. Use Conversion Chart
For Developer Time

10. Time To
Process!
•Start Timer and pour
developer into tank.
•Agitate 30 sec.
•After, For every 30 sec.
agitate for 5 sec. until time
is up.

11. Processing
•Pour in Stop Bath
•Agitate for 30 sec. and then
pour out.

12. Processing
•Pour in Fixer for 5 min.
**agitate 30 sec. > 5 sec. for every 30 sec.
•Rinse Film
•Pour in Hypo for 5 min.

•Take out reel and rinse for
5+ min.
•Open up reel, take film out,
put in dryer for 15-20 min.
