MANGAGER’S CORNER
WHAT’S HAPPENING?
Pets are Precious!
Are you contemplating getting a dog or a cat for a companion? After just losing my cat
who was almost sixteen years old, it was made even more clear to me how important pets
are in our lives. However, they are even more beneficial for us as they age.
Owning a dog or cat can lower depression, anxiety, stress, blood pressure and
triglyceride levels. They can improve your mood, improve your appetite and
encourage routine. But most of all, pets provide companionship. Loneliness is one
of the biggest problems within the senior population.
Things to consider when getting a pet. Does my apartment complex allow pets?
Am I physically able to care for a pet without relying on neighbors or family? Can I financially afford
pet care? Is there someone who can care for my pet if
I get too ill and need temporary assistance? Getting
an older cat or dog will provide them with a much
needed home and will be a calmer pet as you both ad-
vance in years. Your local animal shelters are won-
derful places to look for a pet. Be sure to hug your cat
or dog today!
