Meet Debora Armstead.
Born and raised in Cleveland,
Ohio Debora is currently residing
at The Ravines. She has a large
family consisting of her Mother
in Cleveland, 8 siblings, 3
children and 7 grandchildren.
Earlier this year she threw an 80th
birthday party for her mother.
She said that it was a fun event to
plan with food, gifts and lots of
family and friends. When asked
what in life she is most proud of,
Debora talked about her young-
est granddaughter. She helped
her with her schoolwork as a
young student. The skills she
developed helped her to excel in
school so much that by the time
she graduates from high school
she will also receive an associ-
ate’s degree from John Carrol
University.
Debora has very fond
memories of her Grandmother
and the fishing trips they would
take. Another trip she took was to
Canada. She would like to go
back there and would like to take
a trip to Las Vegas to see the
shows and sights. In school she
liked math and home economics
which turned into a career as a
seamstress. Today she still loves
to sew, quilt and craft. She makes
crafts to sell at craft shows and
volunteers for an organization
called My Very Own Blanket,
where she makes blankets for
foster children.
Thank you Debora for
sharing your talents and your
story with us.

DID
YOU
KNOW?
You know Outreach
delivers books, but do you
know what else we can
bring ? The Westerville
Library has all of the most
popular movies, both
brand new ones and the
oldies and goodies of the
past. We also have many
of those favorite TV series
you wish you could watch
again. We own thousands
of music CD’s including
rock, jazz, easy listening,
classical, religious and
more. Many books that
are in print format can be
found on audio CD’s. We
also have a very extensive
magazine collection. Do
you have grandchildren?
Borrow children’s books
and movies to entertain
them while they are visit-
ing. So remember, when
you think “Outreach”,
think about the entire
library collection!
To place a hold on an item

Safety in winter
Winter can be a tough season to
get through; it’s cold and dark and a
pain to get around sometimes. It can
be relatively stress free if you prepare,
so here are a few helpful tips from the
Council on Aging (Southwestern Ohio).
Make sure you have someone to check
in with you or check in with another
friend. Having someone there can not
only help your safety, but can keep you
from feeling isolated during those win-
ter months. Try to clear walkways of
snow and ice whenever possible. Al-
ways check your supplies on hand
(batteries, flashlights, radios, etc.)
Make sure your heat works. If you are
using a space heater, make sure you
are using it properly (plug it into the
wall not an extension cord and keep it
3 ft. from anything that will burn,
including the wall). Plan ahead for
emergency power needs if you use
medical equipment. And, try to
inspect property after a storm to report
any damage as soon as possible.
