3. I believe that empathy can be learned.
@weisesarah
To
test
this
theory,
I
spent
a
year
as
a
listener
at
a
suicide
hotline.
At
first,
I’m
embarrassed
to
say
that
I
wasn’t
very
good
at
it.
But
with
+me,
I
became
very
quick
at
establishing
a
connec+on
–
because
in
a
high
stakes
nego+a+on,
the
speed
of
that
connec+on
could
be
the
difference
between
life
and
death.
4. Today we are bombarded with information.
@weisesarah
Do
you
have
unread
emails
in
your
Inbox?
Do
you
currently
have
more
than
5
tabs
open?
Do
you
feel
overwhelmed
at
least
once
a
day?
You’re
not
alone.
We
are
consummate
mul+taskers.

the
number
of
unread
messages
I
have
in
my
Inbox
right
now.
Jeez.
