MIGRATION IN NIGERIA
As LTE networks sporadically appear in Africa, Nigerian
deployments have been held by delays in digital
migration, spectrum allocation and auctions as well
as devices availability. At the same time, the lack of
harmonisation in terms of spectrum used for LTE across
the globe could make compatible devices relatively
expensive for the early Nigerian adopters.
As of mid-2012, Nigerian LTE deployment plans have
translated into marketing buzz. Globacom created
the first buzz in 2011 and CDMA operator Zodafone
followed in 2012. Like for WiMAX, the hype is much
fuelled by infrastructure suppliers who put forward
benefits such as advanced mobile broadband capabilities
