Bridging TETRA into future
• CSP and ElettraSuite Adaptanet purpose is to implement durable TETRA
networks that may be effectively used in mixed environment that will
characterize future scenarios
• CSP and ElettraSuite Adaptanet support heterogeneous networking in
native way providing native TETRA-LTE interoperability
• They incorporate some key technologies characterizing 4G and 5G
network environment such as
• Virtualization
• Cyber security and resilience
• They provide immediate support to a digitalized professional environment
with full featured secure terminals

Virtualization for flexible solutions
• All elements of CSP core network and ecosystems (Gateways, Call Manager,
HLR, AVL,…) are deployable as virtual instances
• Several configuration options available according to requirements from single
system to cloud based deployments
• Started with mixed heterogeneous virtualization approach (mix of virtual and
physical platforms)
• Currently homogeneous hypervisor based deployment
• Future:
• NFV and orchestration (Public Safety Network Slice)
• ETSI MANO compliancy

Cyber resilient (TETRA) networks
• The level of exposure to cyber threats for professional network is
increasing with the “hybridization” with public networks
• Strengthening Network Elements with security elements is a must for
reliable professional networks
• Beside Antivirus and Firewall protection (deployed as standard options)
Leonardo is able to provide a wide portfolio of cyber security services
ranging to consulting to proactive security and full outsourcing
• New cyber security architectures (i.e distributed firewalling) are being
studies as part of evolutions to SDN/NFV

Smoothing and optimizing TDM-IP migration
• Leonardo has developed a portfolio of Access Gateways (A-GW) to
allow an affordable and smooth migration from old TDM to new
generation IP TETRA networks
– A-GW FE (Front End) allows the connection of TDM based BS to an IP
backbone
– A-GW BE (Back End) allows the connection of IP based CSP Core switch to a
TDM backbone
• The A-GW then make it possible to
– Upgrade the network core and backbone from TDM to IP still maintaining
the original TDM BS
– Upgrade the network core with no need to change the original TDM
backbone and BS
• Advantages of smooth TDM TETRA upgrade:
– still taking benefit of the initial CAPEX
– reducing the new required investment amount
– planning a full network upgrade in phases spreading the investment in time
