CSR Training Institute and Canadian University in Dubai sign MOU to collaborate on
corporate social responsibility training
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, May 16, 2016 – The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Training Institute and the
Canadian University in Dubai signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will see the institutions collaborate on
providing corporate social responsibility training and capacity development to businesses and organizations in Dubai and
throughout the Gulf Region.
The CSR training programs will support businesses and organizations as they adapt to increasing social and
environmental performance expectations from key stakeholders.
Speaking at the MOU signing, Wayne Dunn, Founder and President of the CSR Training Institute and Professor of
Practice in CSR at McGill University noted “Society is demanding more of business. So are shareholders. And often
governments too. These expectations will keep growing and businesses and organizations that don’t adapt will struggle to
survive. Those that figure it out can create a sustainable competitive advantage that can help drive profits and success.”
According to Dunn “CSR in the Middle East & North Africa is dynamic and exciting. It is built on centuries of Islamic
tradition and principles and is evolving rapidly to meet the business reality of the 21st century. However, there is an
urgent need to transition from a Zakat inspired philanthropic approach to a more strategic approach that integrates
social and business value along with sustainable environmental stewardship.”
Dunn noted that the CSR Training Institute is very excited to be working with the Canadian University in Dubai and the
experience, capacity, profile and expertise they bring.
In addition to collaborating on CSR training the two institutions will also collaborate in other areas including guest
lectures, student recruitment and VIP coordination.
The CSR Training Institute is based in Canada and delivers programs and services globally. It specializes in helping
businesses and organizations to innovate and develop strategic approaches that can align societal and shareholder
