Above is a screen shot of what the ‘British Board of Film Classification have produced, this shows the
guidelines of how various videos are classified for example an 18 only adults are admitted.Nobody
younger than 18 can rent or buy an 18-rated DVD, Blu-ray Disc, UMD or game, or watch a film in the
cinema with this rating. Films under this category do not have limitation on the bad language that is
used. Hard drugs are generally allowed, and strong violence/sex references along with strong sexual
activity are also allowed. Scenes of strong real sex may be permitted if justified by the context.
The whole purpose of this is to protect consumers of movies only being able to access movies that
are correct for their age group even though there are many issues with this as a lot of younger age
people access films that their not meant to.
Our movie
When we are rating our own movie we will have to base it on the graphic content, sexual nature,
language used, drugs etc: content in the movie. Considering our audience of our film is generally
aimed at college students a reasonable rating would be a 15 but an 18 may be certificated if worse
comes to worse.
