ENTREPRENEURS!!!
Are Entrepreneurs “BORN” or “BRED”?
Are their entrepreneurial impulses “INNATES” or
“LEARNED”?
Although the word Entrepreneurship usually
connotes innovation, creativity, risk-bearing and “start-ups”,
each of these terms simply focuses upon some aspect of some
entrepreneurs.
“Entrepreneurship isn’t just about starting a business but also
about having the PASSION, ALTITUDE and the DRIVE to
make it succeed”
– Tony O. Elumelu
It is a powerful force deep down inside, driving you to
achieve your dreams, against all odds and in spite of the
skepticism of those around you.
3. As compelling as these debates have been, I am
convinced that an entrepreneur is a product of both the
NATURE and the NURTURE.
There are certain attributes that are absolutely
necessary if one is to become successful in a business venture.
Some of these traits are inherent in your personality,
while others have to be consciously and painstaking developed.
Knowing these characteristics and being able to
identify and then strengthen your areas of weakness will
eventually, help you to become an entrepreneur.
According to the President/CEO, Dangote Group of
Companies, in person of Alhaji Aliko Dangote – He said while
I quote;
“Entrepreneurs have an unwavering self-belief and
are driven by a manic need to succeed. They are single-minded,
diligent, self-motivated and usually have no respect for the
status quo.”
He further explains that – Entrepreneurs are
courageous, pragmatic, decisive, dogged and relentlessly
optimistic individuals.
4. Some other common traits of entrepreneurs include
there foresight, intuitive judgement and ability to assemble the
right team to transform their dreams into reality.
The difference between reality of today and the hope
of future lies first in the power of vision - which has often been
seen as the most forceful motivator for change-for-success that
companies, nations, and individuals possess.
One common trait that runs through most visionaries
is that which I call “a restlessness of spirit”
That epitome of the spirit of a person to birth
something new and the desire to continuously seek change
through innovation is reflected in courageous acts of
determination to conquer new ground.
This is a quality that clearly demonstrated that all
things are possible with steadfast commitment and leadership.
Remember, this is not just about a restless spirit or
passion for change. It is also about the power to execute.
For Example:
5. Entrepreneurship – this is the most important factor
of production. In fact, it can be called the father of production
because he is the organizer or administrator or a manager of
production.
The other factors are been brought together by an
entrepreneur.
An entrepreneur organizes, manages, administers,
supervises, directs and controls the other factors in order to have
efficient and effective production.
He is a person that bears the risk of the entire business.
He either gains or losses as the case may be.
But in order to make profit an entrepreneur must make
some useful decisions which may include some or more of the
following:
- What is it?
- How is it?
- Where and when to?
- Whether or not on how to operate?
- In what industry to operate?
- What rate of production should be?
- What method/mode of operation should be adopted?
“A vision without a plan is certainly bound to fail.”
6. Vision always comes back to leadership. That’s
because leadership is about defining a destination and having the
ability to chart the course for getting there.
As a leader “The Entrepreneur” you must be
decisive. One remarkable thing is to admit and take
responsibility when things don’t turn out as planned.
“People buy into the leader before they buy into the
vision.” – John Maxwell
Then, what better way is there of defining a
destination, facilitating and having the ability to chart the course
than being a global player yourself?
After all, nothing can possibly beat being one of those
who helps shape the drive to succeed the world of
entrepreneurship against all odd: being part of the unstoppable
next generation of young global leaders who will assuredly rule
their world.
Remember, “If your actions inspire others to dream
more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a
leader.”
NOTE:
7. - Life affords no higher pleasure than that of surmounting
difficulties, passing from one stages of success to another,
forming new wishes and seeing them gratified.
- He that labor’s in any great or laudable undertaking has
his/her fatigues first supported by hope and afterwards
supported by joy.
“If you are starting and building your own business, study
entrepreneurial strategies and tactics and try out new ideas
every single day.”
Every day, I see myself more as a student of success –
a reader, a researcher, a synthesizer, and a teacher of great ideas
– than as an originator or creator of brand new concepts.
I believe, as it says in Ecclesiastes, “There is nothing
new under the sun.”
Since you are reading this material, I know that one of
your great goals in life is to become an extraordinary person, to
realize more and more of your true potential.
“I never want to have made it; I want to continue making it.”
8. – Richard Branson
Each of these will help you to move ahead more
rapidly toward the wonderful life that is possible for you.
May history always be kind to you, Walter
Aladesuru Adewale; the restless one of an extraordinary story

numerous ways that a single individual can indeed make a
difference.
