6. THE DEMAND FOR PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN CHICAGO IS GROWING
Research by the National Association of Independent Schools shows that
Chicago has fewer independent private schools than several other cities. Chicago
has a school-age population of 614,033 and only 16 independent schools. St.
Louis, by comparison, has 64,544 school-age children and 24 independent
private schools. San Francisco, with a school-age population of 109,544, has 26
independent schools.
SPORT IS CENTRAL TO CHICAGO LIFE AND IDENTITY
With 44 sporting teams, Chicago has a long and glorious city as a site for
recreational and competitive sport and has produced some of the finest sporting
events and most loyal fans in American history. The city is one of four American
cities to have five major American professional team sports: baseball x 2,
football, basketball, hockey, soccer. The Chicago-land area also has one of the
largest concentration of sport firms and related sport industries, providing an
extraordinary access for our kids to enjoy many experiential learning
opportunities.

Why Chicago
7. CHICAGO IS THE HOTTEST DESTINATION FOR FOREIGN STUDENT ENROLLMENTS
Illinois ranks fifth most popular destination for international college students.
Most foreign students come from China, India, South Korea, Saudi Arabia,
Taiwan. According to the U.S. Department Homeland Security, the number of
Chinese students at U.S. private high schools soared more than 100-fold from 65
students in 2005, to 6,725 students in 2011. Further, East Coast schools have run
out of slots for foreign students, particularly from China and the trend is
spreading to the Midwest. For example, enrollment of Chinese students at
Illinois high schools has more than doubled over the past two years, to 482 in
2012 from 204 in 2010.
CHICAGO IS A WORLD CENTER FOR EDUCATION AND RESEARCH
The City offers a pipeline of opportunities, including college-credit opportunities
for11th and 12th grade students, and admission opportunities for graduating
students.
