Have class guess how many there are One popular use for this new technology is social networking between businesses. Companies have found that social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter are great ways to build their brand image. According to Jody Nimetz, author of Marketing Jive [32] , there are five major uses for businesses and social media: to create brand awareness, as an online reputation management tool, for recruiting, to learn about new technologies and competitors, and as a lead gen tool to intercept potential prospects. [32] . These companies are able to drive traffic to their own online sites while encouraging their consumers and clients to have discussions on how to improve or change products or services.

Basic features that are common to most sites Almost all social network have a set of features which are considered essential to qualify as a social networking service, namely: the ability to set up and customize a personal 'profile', an ability for members to comment, fine granular control of who sees what (privacy settings), ability to block an unwanted member, have own page of personal (blog like) entries or notes and individual picture albums, ability to own, form or be member of a Group or Community within the network and increasingly the ability to include "Social Apps" or "Gadgets" which can create 'viral' like online contact and spread of information.

Discussion Page, you can post community news, reports, posts from your blog, and allow others to post about their groups or events.

Plaxo Main. Point our posting messages and editing profile. Comment on having broker information under name.
Profile. This is where you would cut and past you information .
Connect to Facebook. Go under settings, select facebook, auto connect. Will import facebook friends who use Plaxo into your Plaxo site.
Inviting Contacts by using your friends friend. Same way you used friends in facebook to find people your friends know that you know.
Viewing Friends of a friend. Click connect to send an invitation to link together.

Using Ping.fm to auto populate your sites. Set up account with user and pass word and select networking site you are on.
Posting. Type in notes in posting area and ping it. Will post to comments area on home page of linked sites.
