2. Nancy Johnson - Ice Cream Freezer
Nancy Johnson, 1795-1890. Nancy Johnson was born on 28th December,
1794. We know she is American, but we do not know where exactly she comes
from (Philadelphia or New England). She was the inventor of the first hand-
crank ice-cream maker (so it was working without electricity!). She tried to
sell ice-cream makers, but she did not have enough money to support her
company, so she sold it for 200 pounds to William Young.

3. Josephine Cochrane - Dishwasher
Josephine Cochrane, 1839-1913. Josephine Cochrane was born on 8th
March, 1839. She is an American, as well as she comes from Ohio. She
was the inventor of the first dishwasher. Cochrane’s new invention
became famous when she showed it at the World’s Colombian Exposition
in Chicago in 1893. After the event, some dishwashers were installed in
some restaurants and hotels. She died on 3rd August, 1913.

4. Thomas Edison was born on February 11, in 1847, and died on October 18, in
1931.The first great invention developed by Thomas Edison was the tin foil
phonograph. A prolific producer, Edison is also known for his work with light
bulbs, electricity, film and audio devices and many more.

5. Arthur Charles Clarke-The Satellite
Arthur Charles Clarke (1917-2008) was a TV series host and he was the first human
who had the idea of the satellite. He wanted to give people the possibility to
communicate more easily. This idea came from Arthur C. Clarke who was a science
fiction writer. Two weeks after his proposal, the president agreed with his opinion.
Arthur Charles Clarke was born on 16 December 1917 and he died in 19 March 2008. He
was a science fiction writer from Minehead, Somerset, England, who studied in the
Royal College in England. In his life he made a lot of movies and shows one of them is
the “Odyssey of Space” in 2001. But he also got awards, such as the award of the best
novel.

6. Cyrus McCornick (February 15, 1809 - 13 May 1884) was born in Rockbrige
Virginia and he is the inventor of the mechanical reaper in 1831. He is well known
to this day day because of his discovery, the mechanical reaper. His parents were
Robert McCornick and Marry Ann Hall.
He died on May 13, 1884, in Chicago, Illinois, and his wife was Nancy Nettie Fowler
and they had 2 children. Cyrus McCornick invented the mechanical harvester
which at the time was one of the most important inventions in the history of the
farm.
CyrusMcCornick was named the father of Georgia with the invention he made.

7. Florence Parpart-The modern fridge
Florence Parpart, invented the electric fridge. She was born in the Hoboken, New Jersey. She lived
in New York and Philadelphia. In 1900 Florence Parpart won her patent.Also, Florence Parpart in
1914 won a second patent for the modern fridge!!! Also Parpart had highly successful with disposals
of fridge. Florence Parpart was an amazing woman and inventor!!!!!

8. Thomas Edison
Thomas Edison was born in 1847 and he dead in 1941 an American inventor and businessman. He
discovered the electric generation, mass communication, sound recording reproduction and animated
film. In 1868 Edison went at east and he worked at Western Union company as an answering. In 1876
Edison used his money of his machines for his laboratory. In 1877~1878 Edison invented the first
carbon microphone.
