The ability to properly categorize and visualize attacks, security tool efficacy, and targeting trends has previously been cumbersome at best and impossible at worst. Through proper schema design a graph database can be used to represent all assets and entities involved in business operations and security both internal and external to your organization. This data can then be used to accurately track and attribute attacks, measure tool and team efficacy/ROI and isolate high risk targets and gaps present in your security posture down to a granular level impossible by other means. The graph database model also allows for incredibly complex queries to be returned in milliseconds to include unknown distance questions, such as "Which Exploits have actors from China used against our Development team in the last twelve months?" or "Which IDS rules are in place to defend from malware used by XXXX group?" or "Display all C2 domains beaconed to over port 80 by malware delivered by Watering Hole attack" By treating things as entities which they are in real life, and forming contextful relationships between them we can begin to make sense of the piles of data and gain insight into our weaknesses. https://github.com/Xen0ph0n/security_graph_demo

Many believe the ability to process and gain insights from a vast array of available data will be the primary competitive advantage for organizations in the years to come. To make sense of data, you will have to face many challenges: how to collect, how to store, how to process, and how to react fast. Although you can build these systems from bottom up, it is a significant problem. There are many technologies, both open source and proprietary, that you can put together to build your analytics solution, which will likely save you effort and provide a better solution. In this session, Srinath will discuss WSO2’s middleware offering in BigData and explain how you can put them together to build a solution that will make sense of your data. The session will cover technologies like thrift for collecting data, Cassandra for storing data, Hadoop for analyzing data in batch mode, and Complex event processing for analyzing data real time.

Deep learning is making news across the country as one of the most promising techniques in machine learning research. However, these methods are complex to implement, finicky to tune, and state-of-the-art accuracy is only achieved by a few experts in the field. In this session, we give a beginner-friendly explanation of deep learning using neural networks—what it is, what it does, and how; and introduce the concept of deep features, which allows you to obtain great performance with reduced running times and data set sizes. We then show how these methods can easily be deployed on GPU instances (G2) on Amazon EC2.

In this presentation you will see why Reactive Extensions (Rx) is a powerful technology for asynchronous stream processing. RTI Data Distribution Service (DDS) will be used as the source of data and as a communication channel for asynchronous data streams. On top of DDS, we'll use Rx to subscribe, observe, project, filter, aggregate, merge, zip, and correlate one or more data streams (Observables). The live demo will be very visual as bouncing shapes of different colors will be transformed in front of you using C# lambdas, Rx.NET, and Visual Studio. You will also learn about the new Rx4DDS.NET library that integrates RTI DDS with Rx.NET. Rx and DDS are a great match because both are reactive. Rx is based on the subject-observer pattern, which is quite analogous to the publish-subscribe pattern of DDS. When used together they support distributed dataflows seamlessly. If time permits, we will touch upon advanced Rx concepts such as stream of streams (IGroupedObservable) and how it captures DDS "keyed topics". The DDS applications using Rx4DDS.NET dramatically simplify concurrency to the extent that it can be simply configured.

Despite the growing abundance of powerful tools, building and deploying machine-learning frameworks into production continues to be major challenge, in both science and industry. I'll present some particular pain points and cautions for practitioners as well as recent work addressing some of the nagging issues. I advocate for a systems view, which, when expanded beyond the algorithms and codes to the organizational ecosystem, places some interesting constraints on the teams tasked with development and stewardship of ML products. About: Dr. Joshua Bloom is an astronomy professor at the University of California, Berkeley where he teaches high-energy astrophysics and Python for data scientists. He has published over 250 refereed articles largely on time-domain transients events and telescope/insight automation. His book on gamma-ray bursts, a technical introduction for physical scientists, was published recently by Princeton University Press. He is also co-founder and CTO of wise.io, a startup based in Berkeley. Josh has been awarded the Pierce Prize from the American Astronomical Society; he is also a former Sloan Fellow, Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society, and Hertz Foundation Fellow. He holds a PhD from Caltech and degrees from Harvard and Cambridge University.

We all know we have people like Anonymous, LulzSec, and NSA around. With this in mind, shouldn't we start thinking about the security of our systems? Well, of course. But, could you turn your knowledge of DDD into an advantage for understanding and counteracting security vulnerabilities? Yes, you could. This session is about exactly that. "Business" and "technical" attacks are two kinds of attacks, where the latter is the most famous, e.g. SQL Injection and Cross-Site Scripting. But this doesn't mean business attacks are less harmful. On the contrary, attacks on the business tend to be extremely sophisticated and powerful as they often leave the infrastructure intact and trigger no alarms. Domain Driven Security is the field that counteracts both types of attacks by using tools and mindsets from DDD in a clever way.

The 1980s focused on machine learning, teaching computers to learn from data, leading to the development of models that could improve their performance based on their experiences. By the 2010s, the proliferation of big data and the refinement of deep learning techniques enabled AI to become mainstream. Notable milestones included the success of Google's AlphaGo and advancements in autonomous vehicles by companies like Tesla and Waymo.
