CURRICULAR STATEMENT 
Pupil are made aware of the concept of arc and 
complementary arc through discussion, explanation & observation. 
CONTENT ANALYSIS 
Fact: Arc and complementary arc forms a complete circle. 
Concept: Concept of arc. 
Concept of complementary arc. 
Learning Outcomes: The pupil will able to 
i. Acquire knowledge about arc and 
complementary arc. 
ii. Develops understanding about 
above mentioned facts and 
concepts. 
iii. Appreciate the beauty of arc. 
iv. Perform mathematical calculations 
accurately. 
Pre-requisites: Circle, Angles, Directions. 
Teaching learning resources: Common classroom aids.
Learning Experience Students Response 
Introduction 
Teacher asks, “Do you like to wear 
bangles?” 
Then what is the shape of bangles? 
Very Good..!!! 
Then What all things do you know 
about circle? 
Very Good...!! 
What is the relation between radius 
and diameter? 
Very Good..!!! 
So today we are dealing with a new 
feature of a circle. Let’s see what is it? 
Presentation 
Let’s play a game. Are you all familiar 
with the game passing the message? 
Teacher calls 10 students and ask them 
to form a circle and teacher select a 
student as centre and ask her to stand 
at centre. 
Do you know the rule of this game? 
I will explain the way how to play this 
game. 
Students answered yes. 
Students responded circle. 
Students replied circle has no end 
points, it has a radius and diameter. 
Students answered diameter=2*radius. 
Students answered yes. 
Students answered yes. 
Students do like that. 
Students answered yes.
Teacher asks the student to join the 
hands and form a circle. Students do 
not leave their hands. Leader stands in 
the middle. One student in the circle 
should initiate the game by pressing 
the hand of other without the 
knowledge of leader and this continues 
till the leader says, ”Stop”. Now the 
person standing in the middle should 
identify the person who started and 
ended. If she guesses correctly they 
will be out from the game. 
Let’s start. Teacher asks to start the 
game. 
When the first section ends teacher ask 
the leader to identify the person who 
started and ended. 
Teacher said, ’’Very Good..!” 
Teacher asks the leader “can you tell 
the direction in which the message is 
moved?” 
Teacher asks “Is there any alternative 
path...?” 
Teacher said “Good...!!” 
Teacher explains there are two paths 
with same end points, isn’t it? 
Students play the game as teacher told. 
Leader guesses correctly. 
Leader answered the path. 
She answered correctly. 
Students answered yes.
Now we can say it as two parts of 
circles, Arc and complementary arc. It 
is a bow like structure with same end 
points. 
Teacher draws a circle on the black 
board.

Teacher appreciates and teacher 
explains that arc & complementary arc 
makes a complete circle. 
Students answered AB is the arc & the 
shaded portion is its complementary 
arc.
