2. Simple Past
The simple past is used to express the idea that an
action started and finished at a specific time in the
past. Sometimes, the speaker may not actually
mention the specific time.
Past Present Future

3. To form the simple past in English we often add –ed
at the end of the verbs (regular verbs), for example:
work → worked clean → cleaned start → started
stay → stayed arrive → arrived dance → danced
try → tried study → studied plan → planned
Some verbs are irregular, that means the simple past
doesn’t end in –ed, for example:
buy → bought go → went do → did
make → made pay → paid sweep → swept
run → ran read → read break → broke
