Today, transforming a conventional business into a digital one is essential to increase revenue and productivity. Integrating heterogeneous systems and building an ecosystem with integrated components is a fundamental requirement for this. Most modern systems support integration with other systems through APIs that are exposed to well-known protocols and standards. However, it is hard to expect all existing systems of an organization to be capable of integrating with other systems. Certain legacy systems will only be replaced a few years down the line. Therefore, the challenge is to drive all these existing systems towards integration in quick succession while ensuring the agility to make any changes in the future. In this meetup, we will discuss how you can use the lean, enterprise-ready, high performing WSO2 Integration Platform to solve integration and innovation challenges that organizations face when performing brownfield integration. Discussion topics include • Integrating with systems that talk in standard protocols and non-standard/ proprietary protocols • Integrating with legacy systems using techniques such as file-based integration • Sharing existing data from different sources as services • Ensuring guaranteed delivery of messages • Future-proofing your integrations by leveraging containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes Recording: https://youtu.be/n_ZtHDCeUQw

Ballerina is a programming language designed for network-distributed applications. One of its key objectives is to make providing and consuming services easier by baking concepts such as listeners, services, and endpoints as inherently concurrent first-class language constructs. Another important aspect of the language is the sequence diagram based graphical view which shows the most fundamental aspect of the semantics of a network distributed application. Ballerina language is pragmatic and intended for commercial adoption and provides familiarity for users of Java, C#, and JavaScript. While it looks like Java and other popular languages in some ways, it is very different from those in fundamental ways In this deck, Sameera Jayasoma, will discuss and demonstrate how Ballerina simplifies your microservices development. Also, the deck covers how Ballerina is different, why it's different, and how those differences give Ballerina an unfair advantage when it comes to developing resilient, performant, and secure network services and applications.

The availability of timely information and data are critical for modern enterprises. Delays in minutes are not acceptable for many cases and data needs to be available in realtime. However, legacy systems that can’t generate data streams that can be consumed in real-time still exist. These legacy systems emit their output as statics data stores such as files or DB tables. Integrating these static data sources in realtime is crucial and this is where real-time ETL comes into rescue. This deck explores how WSO2 Streaming Integrator can be used for real-time ETL with techniques such as change data capture and file streaming. GraphQL is an emerging API standard that provides a more flexible and alternative approach for data intensive operations. It is particularly good for querying and retrieving data in optimized forms that make applications more efficient and optimal. While GraphQL focuses on what it does best, we still need to ensure that our GraphQL services are exposed in a secure, controlled, monitored, and sometimes even in a monetized environment. This is where the inclusion of an API gateway that understands GraphQL queries, mutations, and subscriptions can add significant value. This deck explores the following: - Introduction to GraphQL - Exposing GraphQL services as managed APIs - Authentication - Authorization - Rate limiting - Invoking GraphQL APIs exposed via WSO2 API Manager Watch the webinar on-demand here - https://wso2.com/library/webinars/2019/11/exposing-graphqls-as-managed-apis/

Enterprise Integrator is a composite of the open-source integration functionality we’ve been offering so far with products like WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus, WSO2 Message Broker, WSO2 Application Server, WSO2 Business Process Server and WSO2 Data Services Server. All in one package, integrated, with one management console. There’s no more need to configure multiple products. This webinar explores all the benefits behind this approach and what this means for you as a user.

Liferay delivers external-facing content for portals, publishing, content, and collaboration, and the Nuxeo Platform offers a content repository to manage internal-facing content. Both Nuxeo and Liferay are open source, Java-based, standards-compliant platforms, so an integration between them provides a flexible solution with a single, reliable source of content. With this integration, content follows its lifecycle in the Nuxeo Platform, and Liferay serves as a front-end. Nuxeo SI Partner Océane Consulting has built and implemented this integration for many of their customers, and Laurent Dreuillat, CTO, will tell us what they’ve learned from the experience. He will discuss the benefits and tradeoffs of the different integration approaches, including: A standards-based Liferay integration with OpenSocial and CMIS, and Building custom Liferay portlets using Vaadin and the Nuxeo Content Automation API.

O'Reilly Software Architecture Conference 2018 (London) Continuous delivery for 12-factor Microservices works because it’s by design. When you can architect a solution for continuous delivery, you control all the angles but what do you do when you don’t have that luxury? This session will highlight how modernizing existing IT infrastructure with containers enables you to manage change through continuous delivery and reduce ongoing operational costs. Abstract While the industry has promoted a dramatic trend to build new, improved styles of architecture; there remains a gap in how to address the ongoing and continuous improvement and operation of existing enterprise IT systems alongside these new 12-factor apps. In this session, we will review why 12-factor apps are a natural fit for Kubernetes by design. We will demonstrate how Kubernetes addresses virtually all of the 12 factors for scalable web apps. Then we will take a step back and consider the important question: how well will stateful and transactional workloads that were not designed for 12-factor be able to run within Kubernetes? Even with purist gaps from 12-factor for traditional enterprise workloads, there are real benefits to velocity and cost management to move stateful and transactional workloads to containers. With a container based orchestrator like Kubernetes, all workload types can take advantage of automated DevOps release pipelines, provide rich feedback loops with canary testing, leverage better automated failure recovery in production, and provide easier visibility into the operational health of services running within Kubernetes. Leveraging a standard platform for a blend of architectural types enables an enterprise to standardize operational practices for across the board. The end result might be the right path for your enterprise to drive your digital transformation.
