How did you attract/address your
           audience?
To be able to attract our audience, we first needed to do some audience research in order to find out who our audience
was and what music and content the audience would like to hear on our radio station. We decided to create a
questionnaire in order to do this which we gave out to students in our school. From the results of the questionnaires, we
discovered that the most popular genres that people wanted to listen to were pop, rock, R&B and hip-hop. After finding
this out, we decided to use mostly pop, rock, R&B and hip-hop music as this will attract people to our radio station as we
are playing the music that they like.This is the main way that we will attract our audience because ours is a music station.
Also, we researched different radio stations to see what they were like.
Pop FM’s audience


• 15-30 year olds
• All ethnicities
• Mainly young people
• Both genders
What people would like to hear on our
                       radio station?
As well as asking people what music they would like to listen to, we also asked people what news
they would like to hear on our radio station. The options we gave the audience were: celebrity
interviews, celebrity news, traffic, weather, sport, political matters and other.

After we gathered the results back, we found out that most people would like to hear about celebrity
interviews, celebrity news and the weather so this is what we decided to include in our radio
broadcast as most people are interested in it. For example, we included celebrity news and an
interview with the singer/songwriter and X Factor judge Tulisa. We asked Tulisa about her new book
and album that she has recently released and we also talked to her about The X Factor.

We needed to make sure that we presented our stories well as we wanted to keep the audiences
interest.
Pop FM presenters
As our audience is 15-30 year olds, we needed our presenters to be in between these ages as well.
We needed our presenters to be young as this would attract the audience and it would be much
more fun for the audience to listen to.
Also, we have 3 presenters so it is easier to be more fun and energetic.




                            Pop FM sponsors
We chose the music store HMV to sponsor us. We chose HMV as it is a young and fresh store and
as we are a music radio station, we felt HMV was relevant to our radio station. Also, a lot of young
people as well as older people shop in HMV, therefore, they will be attracted to our station.
Social networking sites and technology




In our radio broadcast, we included social networking sites and technology. For example, we
asked the audience to tweet us at @PopFMLive to give us their opinions and we also asked them
to text us to tell us what they thought.

This attracted the audience as most young people, as well as older people use social networking
sites and technology. By doing this, we may have attracted a wider audience. Also, this attracted
the audience as they are able to listen and communicate with us via phone, Twitter, Facebook and
other sites. This makes the audience feel much more involved.
