To wakeboard as a beginner, one should wear a life jacket and use a spotter. They should determine if they are regular or goofy footed and use a shorter rope. When ready, they should grasp the rope handle tightly and signal to be pulled up. As the boat accelerates, they should hold the rope and keep the board above water, then straighten their legs when out of the water and gently guide the board to turn toward the back of the boat, leaning slightly back to keep the front edge up.
