SCENE I
(In a dining room, Ahmad is preparing dinner for3 people.)
Ahmad : Abu! It’s time to eat dinner.
Abu : OK, Ahmad. I’m coming.
Abu : Wow, the food’s so delicious. Why didn’t Rasyid come home?
Ahmad : Oh! He went to the library. He’ll come home later. We don’t have to wait for him.
Abu : You’ve been working hard since Mom and Dad died.
Ahmad : Taking care of you and Rasyid is my responsibility. No matter how hard I work, I can bear
it.
Abu : Well, I’ve found a job. I’ll start working tomorrow.
Ahmad : What? Why didn’t you discuss it with me first?
Abu : Don’t be angry. I just want to help you. I think you’re too tired. I…
Ahmad : But I have told you before. You just concentrate on your study and do nothing else.
Abu : I can work part –time and study at the same time.
Ahmad : It’s out of the question. (Then, bang on the table.)
Rasyid : I’m home. (He feels shocked.) What happened? (Abu is so angry, and then, he leaves the
dining room.) What are you arguing about?
Ahmad : Nothing! Just eat dinner and then go back to your room to do your homework.
(The next morning Ahmad goes into Abu’s room, and sees a note.)
(Note: I’m sorry about our argument yesterday. But I still want to work so I’m leaving. Don’t worry about
me. I’ll take care of myself.)
Rasyid : I’m going to the library. (He looks at Ahmad.) Are you OK? What happened?
Ahmad : Abu and I argued yesterday. He told me that he wanted to work part-time and study at the
same time. But I won’t let him do that. So he left home this morning.
Rasyid : What are we going to do now? I’m so worried about him.
Ahmad : Let’s go find him.
Rasyid : Do you know where he is?
Ahmad : Well, I don’t know. I’ll ask him friends first. (Ahmad calls Abu’s friends.)
Hello, I’m Abu’s brother. Is Abu there?
Ahmad : OK, thank you. (To Rasyid) No one knows where he is.
Rasyid : Oh, no!

2. SCENE II
(Abu is working in a restaurant and he is moving some stuff.)
Boss : Abu, come over here. Wipe the table.
Abu : Yes, I’ll do it right away.
(Twenty minutes later.)
Abu : Wow, it’s 12.00 o’clock time for lunch. Can I eat lunch now? (He is thinking to himself.)
Boss : Abu, after wiping the table, you should clean the windows at once.
(Abu is cleaning the windows and feels sad. The night is coming. He walks to a park and sits on a chair
.He looks at the moon and misses him family.)
(A boy runs into him.)
Boy : What happened? Why do you look so sad?
Abu : Well, I’ve some problems.
Boy : This is for you. It can make your three wishes come true at once.
Abu : Really? (Smiling) I see (Goes way). (The next morning, he meets the boy again when he
goes to dump the garbage.)
Abu : Was that you in the park yesterday? How old are you?
Boy : Yes… I’m 13 years old.
Boy’s mother: Johnny! Johnny! Where are you?
Boy : Sorry, I have to go. My mother is waiting for me to eat dinner.
Abu : (Thinking) maybe my family is waiting for me, too. (Ahmad and Rasyid are walking along
the street because they want to find Abu.)
Rasyid : Wait! Isn’t that Abu?
Ahmad : where? … Yes, yes. That’s him.
Abu : Hello, can I help you? (Surprised) Why do you come here? How do you know I’m here?
Ahmad : Let’s go home now. I don’t want you to work.
Abu : I…
Rasyid : Let’s go see the Boss.
(Rasyid knocks at the door.)
Boss : Come in! Who are you?
Rasyid : I’m Abu’s brother. Sorry, Boss. My brother wants Abu to go home to finish him study.
Boss : Really? Oh! Abu, I was so serious because I wanted to test your attitude on your work. I
really like you. I think you’re really a good boy. I want to hire you. Can you stay and help me?
Abu : Well, (looks at his brother and thinks) but I want to go home with my brothers, sorry.
Ahmad : Boss, thank you for the offer. You’re a good boss. But I hope he can finish his study first.
Boss : All right! Good luck to you! By the way, if you want to work, you can come back anytime.
Abu : Yes, ma’am. Thank you.
SCENE III
(The Three brothers go to a nice restaurant to eat lunch. They are happy. They have many things to talk
about. After eating lunch, they go home together. The next morning Ahmad is in the kitchen. Abu and
Rasyid are eating breakfast .A person knocks at the door.)
Rasyid : Who is it?
Boss : Excuse me, I’m Dato Harun. I want to talk to Abu. Is he at home?
Abu : Oh! Yes, I’m here. (He opens the door.) Is there anything I can do for you?
Boss : Yes. After thinking, I really want to hire you. Nobody works so hard like you. Are you
willing to come back? Please.

3. Abu : Well, I…
Boss : I can give you a good salary.
Abu : (He is looking at Ahmad.) Can I get the part-time job, Ahmad?
Ahmad : (Thinks for a while)…Of course…you can.
Abu : Oh! My dear brother, I love you!
Boss : Thank you. (Shakes hands with Ahmad)
Abu : (Abu talks to Ahmad) don’t worry about my study. I’ll try my best to handle it.
Ahmad : I believe you can do it well.
(Ahmad, Abu and Rasyid embrace together.)
