1. LOOKING BACK ON THE PRELIMINARY TASK, WHAT DO
YOU FEEL YOU HAVE LEARNT IN THE
PROGRESSION FROM IT TO THE FULL PRODUCT?

2. THE TASK
• The preliminary task was upon continuity which involved a person opening a door to a room, walking
across the room to sit across from another person already sat down and then conversing with one
another over the course of around 8 lines.
3. BEFORE THE TASK
• Before we could produce the preliminary task we had to research into continuity to gain a better
understanding on what it actually is and the rules surrounding continuity.
• The 180 degree rule line (the line you do not cross), shot reverse shot (can be over the shoulders)
and match on action (opening of the door following the handle) were all researched upon to gain
better knowledge to make the task more accurately and overall give us a wider understanding for our
media product.
4. AFTER THE TASK
• After we completed the preliminary task it was eye opening for us to see what we did well and what we
needed to improve on for our final media product. For example, during the filming of the preliminary
task at the start it took us a bit of time to be serious and not laugh whilst filming as it was something
most of us had not done before. Also it gave us a practice at using the editing software 'Adobe
Premier Pro' to learn about certain tools we would need for our media product.
5. WHAT I HAVE LEARNT
SINCE DOING THE PRELIMINARY TASK I HAVE LEARNT:
- The main functions and tools of Adobe Premier Pro
- Celtx is an easy and simple format to create accurate and efficient scripts to use whilst producing a film.
- I have learnt about the 180 degree rule line, match on action and shot reverse shot which we used within
our final media product.
- I have learnt various names to shots in filming like medium close ups and high angle shots for example.
