What’s new in the Release
1) Digital Voting
a. Receive signal voting solution for MOTOTRBO Digital radio systems, to addresses mismatches of Inbound vs. Outbound Transmit Power and coverage.
b. Digital Voting is supported by the following:
i. 32MB XPR8400, XPR8380 and MTR3000 Repeaters – Firmware versions R02.30.00 onwards
ii. XPR4000’s and XPR6000’s Subscribers – Firmware versions R01.11.02 (released December 2012) onwards
iii. XPR3000’s, XPR5000’s, XPR7000’s and SL7000’s Subscribers – Firmware versions R02.06.04 (released February 2013) onwards
NOTE: XPR5000’s, and SL7000’s radios originally manufactured and labeled with R02.06.03 firmware by Motorola, support the same features and performance as firmware R02.06.04 released on MOL
iv. Digital Repeater System Topologies: Conventional Single Site, IP Site Connect, Capacity Plus and Linked Capacity Plus (Not Connect Plus)
v. Requires GW3-TRBO version 3.2.12 to monitor traffic from Satellite Receivers
2) Location and Registration in a single CSBK (Control Signaling Block)
a. Improves data communication performance and reliability by compressing the radio transmitted data packet size and transmitting in a single burst, for ARS, GPS and XCMP device raw data
b. Benefits of this feature:
i. Reduces channel collisions
ii. Faster Enhanced GPS system capacity update rate
iii. An XCMP device can send multiple single CSBKs to other XCMP devices
iv. The same CSBK can be transmitted repeatedly to improve reliability
c. Affected system components:
i. Repeater: Supported on 32MB XPR 8400, XPR8380 and MTR3000 repeaters
ii. Subscribers: Supported only on XPR 4000’s, XPR5000’s XPR6000’s, XPR7000’s, XPR7550IS and SL7000’s
iii. CPS 10.0
iv. MOTOTRBO Network Interface Service (MNIS) Build 2.30.5000
v. ARS / DDMS Build 3.11.5000 and 3rd Party Data Applications
d. Special Note:
i. The Location and Registration in a single CSBK feature is NOT supported in Single Site and IP Site Connect (IPSC) configuration, when Slot 1 of the repeater is configured for Voice and Slot 2 is configured for Enhanced GPS. This is a known issue and will be fixed in the next firmware release (Please see Known issues in product release section – CCMPD01838363 – for more details). This feature will be disabled when the personality wide “CSBK Data” option is not checked in CPS
4. Release 2.3 Motorola Solutions Page | 4
ii. CSBK Data is supported for IPSC and Single Site if:
• GPS Revert Channel is NOT Enhanced GPS
• GPS Revert Channel is a Dedicated Data Revert Repeater separate from the Voice Channel Repeater.
3) Capacity Plus Enhancement:
a. Allows up to 8 trunked repeaters and 4 Data Revert repeaters per Capacity Plus system.
b. Supported in XPR8300, XPR8400, XPR8380 and MTR3000 repeaters.
c. Note the following upgrade procedures to a current system prior to R02.30.00 firmware version:
i. Configuring the Rest/Site IP address is now Required for Capacity Plus configuration. When upgrading a Capacity Plus system to R02.30.00, ensure a common Rest/Site IP address is configured in all repeaters of the Capacity Plus system.
ii. When upgrading a Capacity Plus system, upgrade the Master first followed by all other repeaters at the site. During the upgrade the Capacity Plus system will act as 2 mutually exclusive systems, but calls will still be supported. All radios should remain tracking the legacy system until the last legacy repeater is switched off and upgraded, radios will then find the new system and operate as normal.
4) Work Ticket Management on XPR5550, XPR7550 and XPR7580
a. Work ticket management, which was previously only available in the SL7000’s, is now being added to XPR5550, XPR7550 and XPR7580 radios. This feature follows the implementation done on SL7000’s, which allows the users to receive work ticket orders on their radios from the system and respond accordingly.
5) SL7000’s Telemetry
a. Telemetry Status Message Decode and Command Encode functions are now in SL7000’s
6) Flexible Receive (Rx) list
a. Only supported in Capacity Plus and Linked Capacity Plus systems.
b. Allows radio users to Add/Remove up to 16 Talkgroups (TG) into a “Flexible Rx List” and monitor them in addition to the static Rx List that’s programmed into a channel selector personality.
c. The “Flexible Rx List” can be Enabled/Disabled via a programmable button, to quickly expand or reduce the number of talkgroups being monitored, much like Scan in conventional mode.
7) Permanent Bluetooth Discoverable Mode
a. This is a premium software feature that allows users to configure a Bluetooth “Always On Mode” for indoor location tracking. Available on XPR 7000’s and SL7000’s only.
b. This feature will only work when Bluetooth is disabled for all other radio operation (audio and data). However, this feature is compatible with a wired audio accessory.
c. Can only be enabled in CPS (cannot be enabled or disable via Menu/Front Panel)
5. Release 2.3 Motorola Solutions Page | 5
8) CPS Read Write Password Protection
a. The same password used for Read, will also be required to Write a codeplug to the radio
b. The feature will not be supported Radio Management, multi-radio cloning or Remote Repeater Programming functionality in this release
9) Transmit Interrupt Support in Call Hang
a. Support Data over Voice Interrupt and Remote Voice Dekey CSBK's in Call hang. This change is made on XPR8300, XPR8400, XPR8380 and MTR3000 repeaters.
10) Radio Management (RM) R1.2
a. Premium Software Feature support via RM – This feature enables customers to manage all of the radio Premium Software features within RM. This way, customers do not have to worry about which PC a feature was registered on as it will all be managed in the RM Server and they can activate it from any Client. RM can now provide a snapshot the entire fleet of radios, with activated and available for purchase features for each unit.
b. Offline Programming – user can download the necessary programming information for a Job on a computer and disconnect from the RM Server to travel to remote location without internet connection.
c. Fill up/down in Grid (Excel like functionality) – users can now auto-populate IP addresses, Radio ID’s, etc. to fill in incremental digits faster than typing each one individually.
d. Access control per component (RM Utility) – allow certain services (e.g. programming Job) to work on a PC, while preventing others (e.g. Edit template), so only administrator can make programming changes, but remote machines can execute programming jobs.
e. Enhanced CSV import – Prior to this release CSV import was only used to add radios to the RM Server. Now user can make modifications to existing radio’s Alias, IP, ID, Group, and assigned Template through the CSV import process.
f. After upgrading the RM Server to 1.2 you must recover your RM licenses. This is done by the following process:
i. Click on Actions > Settings
ii. Click on the Licenses tab and click on Recover Application Licenses
11) MTR3000 Enhancement
a. Enhancements made to the Repeater CPS allow for MTR3000 Repeaters to accept frequencies divisible by 5Hz. This change allows for the programming of frequencies previously not permitted on MTR3000 and is in line with the full range of frequencies allowed by XPR8000’s Repeaters.
6. Release 2.3 Motorola Solutions Page | 6
12) System Controller Mode - Repeater configuration for Connect Plus
Enhancements made to the Repeater and CPS to provision a unique Controller Mode for repeaters used in Connect Plus systems. Going forward, all Connect Plus repeaters must be set to System Controller mode, in the Channel section of the codeplug.
WARNING: Please read the programming changes in section 6.6.1 of the Connect Plus 1.4a upgrade guide, before upgrading the firmware on installed Connect Plus repeaters. Failure to perform these changes will result in a loss of Connect Plus operation
13) Windows XP and Vista End of Life and End of Support
a. Windows XP & Vista OSs End of Support due to OS End of Life
b. Microsoft has stopped supporting Windows XP & Vista mainstream, so we will be officially stopping support (includes field support) for these two OSs from the end of 2013 (this year) for all PCR CPS programming and configuration software (includes tools).
c. This latest version of CPS and other configuration software can continue to run on Windows XP and Vista machines, for the life of that machine, however all future releases of CPS and Tools, will only be supported on Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines.
d. PCR has added support for Windows 8 starting this year and goal is to make sure we proactively add support for new Microsoft OSs that come up.
e. Some information for reference:
i. Microsoft stopped mainstream support for Windows XP (April 14, 2009) & Vista (April 10, 2012) - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/lifecycle/default.mspx; http://www.microsoft.com/windows/lifecycle/servicepacks.mspx
ii. Microsoft has stopped providing security patches for these OS's
NOTE: MOTOTRBO Premium Software Feature EID’s purchased after December 23rd 2013 require CPS version 10.0 to Register and Activate.
