A. A naturalistic observation is a form of research that takes place in the participant's own
environment. This could be the participant's' workplace or a child's home. Another form of
observation that was also conducted was covert observations is an empirical research were the
participants don't know when they are being observed. Covert methods in general has always been
contentious, on the basis that you can mislead the participant of the study. However, they offer
access to information that would otherwise be nearly impossible. Regarding this, the subject that I've
decided to study was an biracial female that is athletic, roughly 5'7, dark colored hair, brown eyes,
ages between 16–17, and is a senior at Minnetonka High School. The specific behavior of interest
was the amount of socializing with classmates when teacher asks to share their views about the topic

B. Day 1: The subject look very disinterested at class. While the teacher was discussing about the

The biggest difference were the population size, drinks of choice, and noise level. The group of
people sitting outside the HUB decreased in size from Wednesday at noon to Friday at 10 am. I
deduce that this was due to the fact that maybe people were not on campus yet as they had later
classes, or most were in class already. Moreover, I noticed that people were mostly drinking water
during my observation period on Wednesday, whereas the overall drink of choice on Friday was
coffee. I presume this shift in drink choice was due to the change in time; people enjoy drinking
coffee in the mornings and/or it helps people reduce the groggy, tired feeling of waking up. The
noise level was the most drastic change. The HUB and its surroundings were boisterous and
lively during Wednesday at noon whereas the HUB fell a bit silent during Friday at 10 am. I
consider this change drastic as the decrease in noise level was outstandingly clear almost
immediately. I assume this was due to the fact that most people were still waking up and had not yet

Richards explicitly teaches new concepts to the 3rd graders, the 4th graders are completing

graders through whole class practice, she introduces their independent practice, and then moves over
to begin the teaching cycle with the 4th grades. As Mrs. Richards worked with the 4th grades, I was
given the opportunity to assist the 3rd graders with any support they might need to successfully

Richards was done with the 4th grade they move over to the computer center, where they worked

The seemingly intimate couples observed were quite interesting. Instead of being seated opposite
each other, most couples chose to sit next to each other so as to be within closer proximity of one
another. The couples that did sit opposite each other spent much of their time bent over or leaning
across the table so as to whisper or talk in a more secretive and intimate manner with their partner.
The observed body language of these couples was that of an inclusive "please do not bother us"
attitude. Their behavior compared to the rest of the occupants in the restaurant was very subdued
and much more private. The amount of bodily contact was also much greater than in other groups of

answering the worksheets as a class or by having the members repeat what was just said back to
class. These are really good skills to use when working with adults that have a disability because
some of them do not know how to read or write so this allows them to stay engaged and participate in
