We have to work together as a staff in order to improve student achievement
There are some best practices that we can do here at BHS that have been proven to work. But we have to be willing to put in the work. If we keep doing the same thing then we will keep getting the same results.
Lesson planning not only help guide your instruction but it also will help with discipline. Lesson plans will be due Mondays by 9 am. Mr. Eley - Math I, English II, Biology, MusicMr. Mallory – all other English, ArtMrs. Lee – all other Science, History, BandMrs. Smallwood – all other Math
We need to look at student data in order to make better instructional decisions.
Let the students be responsible for recording their own data. They can record their test data from your class.
The main thing to do is make sure that you are hanging up quality work. Keep student work so that you have documentation incase you need it.
Make sure you have these. If not then you need to see Dr. Justus.
There is only going to be one Benchmark per quarter. The district want you to give more time to analyze the test data and implement strategies to assist students.
Use the resources that are available to you.
You always want to know what your students know so that you can better help them. You should be assessing your students daily.
Go to the DPI website and get a copy of the released test if you have not already done so. Review the test so that you know how the questions are being asked and what concepts or skills are being tested.
Go back and freshen up on the CIF strategies and make them a daily part of your lesson plans.
We know that the kids writing is not where it should be so that means we need to do more with writing. Students need to write in your class but it needs to be meaningful.
Contact the parents and at least give them the chance to work with their child. Keep them informed they do care.
Let’s not wait until the very end to start working with our students. If you see a student is in need of remediation find a way to incorporate it into your class.
Don’t just do it the first day, continue going over the norms until it becomes routine.
Students need to know what to do in your class. They need to know what you expect from them. You can not assume that they know.
