What kind of MOOC is it? This is a course that teaches anyone who is interested in knowing
about nutrition and their wellbeing it draws on world leading
nutrition expects, to demystify the complex and often
conflicting messages people often hear about diet and health
from sources like food industry and media.

Reasons for selecting this MOOC
I have selected this course because I am interested in making informed decisions about my
wellbeing and own diet and this course also relate to my field of study which are Psychology
and Physical Education. In my majors I will be expected to teach learners about nutrition
therefore if I acquire a lot of knowledge about nutrition then I will be able to deliver a lesson
that will be educationalin a waythat firstly I will be teaching teenagers whotends to be obese
and during their lunch break they eat a lot of junk which is sold in their tuck shops therefore
I will extend their knowledge whereby they will be taught on how to take care of their health
and what certain foods can affect one’s health.
Expectations
from this MOOC I intend to learn more about nutrition, so that I could be able to
understand the scientific basis of human information and gain the skills to evaluate nutrition
information from various sources and also to be able to apply the knowledge that I have
acquired to make informed choices about my own lifestyle and also be able to teach my
learners about nutrition and how to take care of themselves.
Introduction to MOOC community
My name is Tshepiso Montsheng a B.Ed student at the University of Johannesburg APK, I’m
currently doing my 3rd
year and I specialize in Psychology and Physical Education. I am a
determined and responsible individual who takes her work very seriously I enjoy learning and
working with people hence I took teaching as my field of education because once you are a
teacher you always a student therefore learning never stops in this field. I enjoy playing
netball, socializing and reading. I’m a sport fanatics therefore I intend to know more about
nutrition and wellbeing so that I may live a healthier life.
