1) The author developed a connector to integrate the Sirsi ILS with Drupal by writing PHP classes to access Sirsi APIs and return bibliographic and patron data as structured data. 2) The connector uses three PHP classes - one to gather patron data from Sirsi, one to perform actions like renewals and holds, and one to return bibliographic data. 3) To improve performance, a MARC server was created to run the catalogdump process continuously rather than spawning a new process for each request, reducing response time for bibliographic data.
