- Using direct address and serious photos that match the genre of music

- Targeting teenagers/young adults through colors, fonts and people featured
- Including freebies to attract audiences
- Focusing on bands/artists through photos and mastheads

Question 1
1. Q1- In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
2.
3.
4. The bands name- focus point of the magazine. FREEBIES- attract the audience Slogan Competitions Price and website address- inform the audience where they can go for more information. Issue Number Sell lines
5. Comparisons Both magazines specialise in indie genres however there are many differences between my product and ‘NME’. Firstly the background in ‘NME’ is white which can connote unity and cohesion whereas Vinyl is a gradient of grey and black which can show a more serious tone. Props & Mise En scene - There are many ethnicities shown in the NME page where it does show some typical stereotypes as the teenagers are wearing casual clothing. Whereas in VINYL, they all look more like a band, due to the colour scheme; The boys are wearing leather jackets and jeans. The images and fonts used in ‘NME’ is eye catching due to the bold font and bright colours. The masthead is the only part of the magazine in which the colour red is used which can make the magazine name stand out and be publicised due to the bold colour. This can represent passion, prosperity or danger. Whereas in VINYL, the image used focuses the audiences attention on the main image. The mast head is red and bold which can also be seen as eye catching. The font varies in NME whereas in VINYL the fonts are pretty much the same which can show things are more organised and structured to look at.

8. The cover lines I think my cover line is quite successful because it stands out and is quite eye catching. Whereas the ‘NME’ magazine doesn't really have a big sell line in comparison to VINYL. This sell line, is proportional in size to the masthead unlike the one in my magazine.
