3. Igneous rocks are made from cooled magma. The color
they are matters on how they cooled. If they cooled slowly,
they would have a darker color and if they cooled quickly,
they will be lighter colors. Igneous rocks are often shiny.
Some igneous rocks can be dull and boring. The earth is
made up of igneous rock. Igneous rocks turn from liquid
rock to solid rock. I hope you just learned a little more
about igneous rocks!
4. Metamorphic rocks form deep in the earth where high
temperatures, great pressure, and chemical reactions
cause one type of rock change into another type of rock.
Metamorphic rocks begin at 12-16 kilometers beneath the
earth’s surface. They begin the changing at temperatures
100 degrees Celsius to 800 degrees Celsius. If you
squeeze and heat a rock for a few million years, it can form
into a whole new different kind of rock.
5. There are all kinds of different types of sedimentary rocks, here
are some examples of some sedimentary rocks:
Sandstone is formed from small grains of sand tightly
pressed together. Sandstones are very common rocks. They
are formed from the sand on beaches , riverbeds, and sand
dunes.
Limestone are formed by tiny shells from the dead sea
animals that have been cemented together.
Conglomerate contains sand and rounded pebbles that
have also been cemented together.
Shale is formed in the water. They may be formed in
swamps or in bogs.
You will know when you see a sedimentary rock because
you can see the layers in it. Sedimentary rocks are my
favorite kinds of rocks!
