The field of agricultural economics, which focuses on the analysis and management of natural resources and raw materials
in agribusiness, is a growing one. Prospective students who are interested in this exciting discipline should look into the
excellent undergraduate and graduate programs at Texas A&M University. Prominent economist Dr. Parr Rosson, who
specializes in international trade and marketing, was recently named the head of the department. He has worked as an
economist at Texas AgriLife Extension Service and has also served as the director for the university's Center for North
American Studies. Dr. Rosson teaches international trade and agriculture and international agribusiness marketing and has
published extensively in his field.
The faculty at the school specializes in such topics as: Livestock, Dairy, and Food Products Marketing; Risk Management,
Agricultural Policy and Bioenergy Policy; and Community Economic Development. Prominent leaders include John Penson,
a Regents Professor and Stiles Professor of Agriculture. This professor focuses on Credit Analysis and Macroeconomics of
Agriculture. Another distinguished professor is James Richardson, a Regents Professor and Senior Faculty Fellow who
serves as Co-Director of the Agriculture Food Policy Center. Richardson focuses on the areas of Agricultural Policy
Analysis, Risk Analysis, Income Tax Policy Analysis, and Simulation Modeling.
Many alumni of the school have gone on to find satisfying careers in both the public and private sectors. Political and

Texas A&M University maintains a strong international focus. The Department of Agricultural Economics operates the
