-His family - his parents, his wife, and his two sons are a prominent and an important part of his life, similar to what I expect and hope my family to be-His parents and his wife (who is also a doctor) heavily influenced his career and personal intellectual interests-His medical and anthropological backgrounds heavily influenced and enabled his passion for helping disadvantaged communities around the world-In simply researching President Kim, I can see the mutual gain that his stakeholders receive because of the way he brings them along as they move together from one stage of life to another
How he became a doctor with a PhD in Anthropology
Seek to understand before seeing to be understood
He said, “I came to Dartmouth not to be a President but to be more effective at making the world a better place.” Many may have thought that his coming to Dartmouth was a risky career move and oddly different from his previous positions. But by understanding his true passion in life (to make the world’s troubles his troubles) and how he derives satisfaction from his self-domain, it actually enabled him to have a diverse career path. As I refine my leadership vision, I hope to find my true passion and do the same.
