SRB Basis
SRB is the Navy’s primary monetary
force shaping tool to achieve
enlisted retention requirements in
critical ratings, NECs, and skills.

Eligibility Requirements
Sailor must:
Have completed at least 17 months
of continuous active naval service,
but not more than 14 years of active
military service.
Be eligible to reenlist or extend for 3
or more years in the regular Navy.
Not be entitled to or have received
severance or separation pay.

Sailor must:
Be on active duty except ACDUTRA.
Be a petty officer or E-3* (designated
striker).
Serving in an SRB-qualifying rating/
NEC.
Have prior approval from BUPERS.

Broken-Service Eligibility
A Sailor who reenlists more than 24
hours after discharge is considered a
Navy veteran with broken service.
Must be a petty officer in an SRB-
eligible rating:
E-3 personnel are not eligible for
broken-service SRB.
Must have less than a 4-year break in
active duty.

Zone A Service Requirements
Sailor must have at least 17 months
of continuous active naval service,
but not more than 6 years of active
military service.
Sailor with exactly 6 years of service
qualifies for Zone A or Zone B IF

of EAOS:
Reenlistment must be during the
month the Sailor passes through the

SRB Pre-certifications:

$90,000, $75,000, $60,000 or $45,000
caps (ex. NUCs Zones A and B, EOD, ND).
Tiers 1, 2 and 3 must be followed in
conjunction with the Zones and the
caps.

Sailors reenlisting for SRB prior
to applying for an officer
procurement program requiring
formal academic training will
have remaining installments
suspended as of their class
convening date.

program and return to enlisted
status in the same bonus skill will
receive the remaining
installments but at a rate reduced
