2. Bolton Abbey
Bolton Abbey is a historical landmark in North
Yorkshire.
Strid walk is a long walk near to the banks of the
River Wharfe on the estate,
Bolton Abbey was built in the 12th century before
being destroyed in 1537 by Henry VIII
3. Knaresborough
Knaresborough is a historical market town outside of
Harrogate in North Yorkshire.
The town has historical routes to Mother’s Shipton’s Cave,
Knaresborough Castle and St John The Baptist Church.
There is a market hold every Thursday and Wednesday in
the city centre. The River Nidd runs through the market town
which also covers the Bed Race which is held in May every
year.
4. Fountain’s Abbey
Fountain’s Abbey is a local heritage site near Ripon. The
abbey was first founded by a group of monks in 1132 near
to the site of the River Skell.
The monks lived daily until 1547 when King Henry VIII came
to destroy the natural wildness of the abbey.
Today, the abbey is a World Heritage Site with Studley Royal
and it’s beautiful water gardens opened to the public.
5. Ripon Cathedral
Ripon Cathedral was built by St Wilfrid in 672 Ad, the first
building went down in fire in 978 AD. Today’s gothic and
modern cathedral was built during the 12th century to allow
kings to come to a cathedral to have glorious services in
church.
Today, the cathedral is a house of worship and a place for
reflection. Visitors are welcomed to share a service at the
cathedral or visit and take photographs in the building in
Ripon.
6. Ripley Castle
Ripley Castle is a historical castle in Ripley near to
Harrogate. The castle was built for the Ingelbery Family
during the 12th and 13th centuries. The castle has been the
home of Oliver Cromnwell when he stay here as a guest
during the Civil War in 1642.
Today, the castle has amazing landscape and stunning
scenery for weddings to happen in the castle. The castle
also has a garden, café & shop for visitors to visit when they
come to Ripley Castle.
7. Harewood House
Harewood House and Gardens are a grand estate and
house near to Leeds in North Yorkshire.
The house was first began in 17th century and today the
building is a spectacular house with lots of ponds and
gardens for visitors to look around.
8. Lightwater Valley
Lightwater Valey is one of the UK’s leading rolocoaster’s
theme parks. The park is situated in Ripon North Yorkshire
and allows visitors to enter and enjoy the high speeding
rides with the calm rides too!.
The Ultimate is the biggest ride in the park, other rides such
as the Logfloom, Wet rides and calm rides for children. You
can also have a walk near to the pond and also shop and
eat at the restaurants at Lightwater Theme Park.
9. Bolton Castle
Bolton Castle is a historical castle near to Wensleydale in
North Yorkshire.
The castle was built in the 12th century to allow people to
guard the valleys of Wensleydale and the River Ure. In 1530,
Mary Queen of Scots was in prison here at the castle.
Today the castle is a visiting place for people to explore
and see the castle with it’s gift shop and café.
