1. EVALUATION QUESTION 4
How did you use media technologies in the
construction, research, planning and
evaluation stages?
By Tom Harris
2. RESEARCH AND PLANNING STAGES
• YouTube: this was one of the key websites I used to
explore and research postmodernism and genre, I did
this mainly though watching film trailers and clips. Its
useful because it contains such a high amount of clips
and videos
• Moodle: this is the college online website, there were
many online power points to help and explain the tasks
and gave us websites to use.
• Past Students Blogs: through Vardean's blogging
website ‘Quack Blogging’ I was able to access past
work, this was useful as I was able to compare the
grades they received to the quality of their work.
• Internet: the internet was key in my research and
planning, we used websites like; IMDB, Moodle,
Wikipedia and Google.
• Slideshare: I used slideshare as a more appealling way
to present my PowerPoints
• For planning we mainly only used word processing and
google drive to share recces and risk assessments
between our group.
3. PRODUCTION STAGE
• To shoot our scenes we used a Canon 55OD. This camera was useful as
it is digital, meaning we didn’t have to change film constantly, we
were also able to see our shots straight away meaning we knew which
shots were useable and which were not.
• We decided to use the colleges professional microphone instead of
the built in one in the canon.
• We also used a track, this allowed us to get still panning shots making
our film look more professional.
• The editing software we used was Adobe Premier Pro C5. the
software is simple and easy to use but is specialized enough to create
a professional product. Our group was made up of the three of us and
we each contributed our knowledge of premier pro.
• We also used Photoshop both in the construction of the trailer and
the magazine and posters, this allowed us to manipulate the images
which then created hyper-real pictures like cartoon and brush-stroke
effects.
• We used other websites in the construction of the trailer;
Dafont (this gave us interesting and appropriate fonts)
Bensound (copy-right free music, we found this has more diverse
music than incompetech)
• We also used a range of sound-effects that we downloaded from our
teachers files, which he said were downloaded from the internet.
4. EVALUATION STAGE
• I presented my work using different types of
digital technology, mainly PowerPoint and
Slideshare. I used these programs because they
can be simply displayed on my blog and looks
appealing to those viewing it. And can be edited
more easily compared to paper or video.
• The benefit of using Slideshare is also that it can
be viewed on any computer with access to the
internet, making it easy for it to be shared
between our group.
• We also displayed our work on YouTube, this is
an effective way of presenting as it can be sent
and shared more easily than a PowerPoint, we
shared our trailer between our class mates
which is how we gained our feedback.
• We created social networking accounts for our
film on Twitter and Facebook, we found twitter
useful as we posted rough cuts and poster mock
ups to keep viewers up to date. This is also a
useful way to advertise as it is free and
increases awareness among random people
around the world.
