1. IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT
USE, DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE FORMS AND
CONVENTIONS OF MEDIA PRODUCTS?
BY TOM BOND
2. CONVENTIONS OF A MUSIC
MAGAZINE
âą All music magazines have to have an eye
catching front cover to make people want to
pick it up and look at it, a contents page to
show people where everything in the
magazine is, interviews with stars, free give a
ways, a competition reviews and much much
more.
3. What does the front cover of a
magazine have to include?
âą All magazine front covers have to have a
masthead, a strapline, a headline, a central
image, features and a puff.
4. How have you pushed the boundaries
of your genre?
âą I have pushed the boundaries of my genre by
creating a new music magazine with a name
that relates to music and a theme that
continues over every page to make it look
profesional.
5. Which social groups have you
represented?
âą I have represented teenagers in my music
magazine by including the genres of music
that appeal most to teenagers and including
things in my magazine that teenagers like or
want.
6. Have you represented them in a
stereotypical way?
âą I have tried not to represent teenagers in a
stereotypical way because I wanted my
magazine to appeal to a very wide audience.
7. Discuss the language and pictures you
have used?
âą I have used pictures that relate to the articles
I have inside my magazine. The language I
have used in my magazine is fairly informal
because if it was very formal it would not
appeal to a teenage audience.
8. What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and
why?
âą IPC media might publish my magazine because
it has a different target audience to the music
magazine they currently publish. And there is
not many magazines like mine out there
anyway.
9. Who would be the audience of your
magazine?
âą Age: 15-24 years old
âą Gender: Male and Female but could vary with
each issue.
âą Profile of audience: A teenager or you adult
living at home with a low income. They go to
college and really enjoy listening to music and
reading about it.
10. How did you attract your audience?
âą I attracted my audience by music bright eye
catching colours, informal language and
pictures of things that the like or want e.g.
there favourite artists or and iPad etc.
11. What technologies have you used in
your project?
âą For this project I have learnt how to use
InDesign, Blogger, Survey Monkey and
Photoshop. I have found these very useful and
will definately use them again.
