What people have said… His designs have been described as “Monstrously ugly” (John Updike), “apparently obvious” (William Boyd), “Faithful flat-earth rendering” (Don DeLillo), “surprisingly elegant” (A. http://www.goodisdead.com/ http://bookcoverarchive.com/Chip_Kidd Some links to some of his work and collaborations And some of his work on Novels became movies The Net has more…
He loved doing “Rough Justice” Other Influences; Kidd is widely known as a fan of comic book media, particularly Batman, and has written and designed book covers for several DC Comics publications, including The Complete History of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, The Golden Age of DC Comics: 365 Days, and the aforementioned Jack Cole and Plastic Man
Stick to Designing….! As any artist, we all expand to other mediums He helped start a band named Artbreak; He takes the role of song writing, vocals, and percussion, and while the group began as hobby, Kidd has expressed interest in making a serious project out of it
COMICS for life. Personal Note; Ive seen his work many times, especially in graphic novels. He’s able to bring that Comic book feel to so many of his pieces, and pull it off. It doesn’t look cheesy, even though its supposed to because its all based on comic books
He apparently doesn’t sleep… At the moment; Chip Kidd is a graphic designer and writer living in New York City and Stonington, Connecticut. His signature glasses are a replica of those worn by the Bauhaus designer Walter Gropius. Kidd's apartment includes cabinets showcasing his favorite book covers, signed by their authors, and display cases housing Batman memorabilia.
