2. Today we are studying...
The differences between the
cactus and the water lily.
3. Water Retrieval...
The cactus collects water from it’s spines, then
travels through the rough stem and to the top so
it can be moist.
Meanwhile, the water lily gets water from all
around!
It doesn’t need roots! It lives on water!
4. Sunlight...
The cactus absorbs it’s sunlight by its
large
stem and guides it through the rest of
the plant.
The water lily, however, gets its sunlight
through its leaves sticking out from
under.
5. Soil/Food
The cactus takes in it’s food by the soil
from below. It gets it through it’s
complex root system.
The Water lily gets it through nowhere!
It has enough water and sunlight to act as
food.
9. We will be comparing...
Grass and Venus fly traps!
10.
11.
12. Water retrieval...
The grass gets it’s water from rain and
when people water it. It gets spread out
through it’s tiny body.
The venus flytrap gets it’s water from it’s
roots and when it rains. Who would water
one?
13. Sunlight…
Grass gets sunlight from the sun, which
shines down on the plant and the grass
absorbs it.
The venus flytrap gets it from the sun
and absorbs it, just like the grass.
14. Soil/Food:
The grass lives in soil, it’s food. The soil is
quickly taken through the system and
distributed to throughout the plant.
The venus flytrap gets the soil from it’s
roots,then to the plant.
16. Conclusion...
After comparing these certain
adaptations,
we now realize just how special some
plants are. The water lily, cactus, venus
flytrap, and grass. These may not seem
special, but they are.
