2. Kindergarten Standard K.3.5 Physical Systems: Describe and give examples of seasonal weather changes and illustrate how weather affects people and the environment.
4. Lesson Plan Students will correctly identify which piece of clothing one should wear for different weather situations by selecting the picture of the article and placing it under the title for the proper weather condition. While students are working on this project, play a sound effects CD with thunder and wind. (Do not play it too loud, some children are afraid of storms.)
5. Begin Lesson Ask students to tell about different types of weather. Ask how many have seen snow. Who likes rain or thunderstorms? What do you like to do on sunny days? Think about the types of clothing you would wear on a hot sunny day.
6. Tell students that they are going to look at pictures of different types of clothing. After looking at each type of clothing, they will move the pictures to the poster that shows the type of weather that they would need the clothes for. i.e. rain coat for rainy weather.
7. Choose the pictures below that you would use on a rainy day. Place them on the poster that shows a rainy day.
13. Review Posters As a group review the posters with the students. Ask the students to look at the posters and make sure that each one has the right clothing for the type of weather. Have students work together to correct any posters that have the wrong picture-weather pairing.
