The 2nd Annual Notre Dame Soft Polymer Materials Symposium will be held
on October 22. This one-day symposium addresses the general synthesis
and characterization of synthetic soft materials and their broad application in
biomedical fields.
The symposium includes two technical sessions, a poster session and a Science
Forum & Tour. The forum, targeted at local high school and college students and
teachers, will include a faculty presentation on state-of-the-art nanotechnology in
the areas of energy, cancer therapy, and agriculture, followed by an open discussion
and tour of facilities and campus.
The goal is to stimulate student interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Math (STEM) disciplines by 1) providing hands-on experience and knowledge of
polymer materials, 2) introducing students to advanced materials characterization
techniques, and 3) helping students find university mentors for their local science
fair project.
