From the Desk of The Editor – Re-orient education system
The recent incidents in which educated youth have indulged in irrational activities have again proved that EQ is more important than
iQ. We have to train the youth to keep their emotions under control. A software engineer recently shot dead his wife, his father in law
and ultimately to himself . These type of incidents are growing in number. These incidents are proving that our education system fails
to train the students in self control, self restraint and in self regulation. The scale of disturbance and violence in recent students
elections again points to the same issue. Educational institutions have to train students in the art of social skills, emotional
management, self regulation and self restraint. Students of today have very high expectations and very high exposure. Hence, it is
imperative to create a congenial environment, where students can cultivate realistic expectations and socialize themselves.
Educational institutions can play an important role in development of model value system and can develop the students who will be
able to adjust and adapt to the changing circumstances and will not compromise with our basic values and ethics.
