Course quality: Key facts
⢠Courses are designed by IB-experienced instructional
designers, working with IB-approved subject matter experts.
⢠Each course is approved by the IB prior to delivery. Course
delivery is monitored by the IB on an ongoing basis.
⢠Teachers are IB-experienced and specially trained in online
pedagogy â selected in accordance with strict IB guidelines.
⢠Internal Assessments are subject to the same requirements
as (including moderation) as in âface2faceâ courses. Students
can sit the regular External Assessments at nearby IB
schools.
⢠No distinction is made on the IB Diploma as to whether the
course was taken face2face or online.

Lessons follow a weekly schedule
⢠Students should expect to commit the same amount of
time to the online courses as they would with a typical
face to face IB course (including homework).
During the week, students can work on courses
anytime, anywhere
⢠Pamoja Education encourages students to access their
courses in regularly scheduled âin-schoolâ and âout of
schoolâ work periods.
Students work closely with their online teachers
⢠In addition to direct support of class work, teachers
provide extra support through monitored âdiscussion
threadsâ and âreal timeâ office hours.

A Pamoja Education trained Mentor supports students at their
school
⢠The Mentor is a coach for students and facilitates
communication between Pamoja Education and the school.
Students can connect with their IB Open World School to benefit
from an âIB experienceâ
⢠The IB Open World School offer students opportunities to
experience key aspects of the IB Mission, principles and
practices.
Class size and diversity
⢠Courses are offered in multiple sections of 10-25
students, each is carefully balanced to ensure a high degree
of global diversity.

8. Student Qualities
What qualities make a successful online student?
⢠High level of interest in the course.
⢠Self-motivated and well-structured.
⢠Independent learner.
⢠Reasonably strong oral and written communication
skills in the English language.
⢠Tech-friendly (though not necessarily experienced in
online learning or Web 2.0 tools).

9. How to enrol in a Pamoja Education course
⢠Enrolments are made through authorized IB Open
World Schools.
⢠Students should contact an IB Open World School
to discuss options with the Diploma Coordinator.
⢠Students and schools can visit the IB Open World
School section of the Pamoja Education website for
additional enrolment information.
⢠The registration deadline is August 15., but
registration requests will be considered on a case
by case basis after the deadline. Schools are
encouraged to enrol students by mid-spring if
possible; courses fill up quickly and it may be
difficult to add additional course sections once the
originally planned sections are full.
