Melian, a Vala, was the most beautiful and skilled in songs of enchantment. When she sang, all others stopped to listen, as her melodies put them under an enchantment. Elwe became enchanted upon hearing Melian's voice while journeying with his people. He sought her out and found her, standing with her hand in his for long years as they fell under her spell.
