The document analyzes several images from a narrative through the lens of visual film techniques. It describes shots that make the main character seem vulnerable alone in her messy room in the opening scene. Later scenes show her dumping her boyfriend through text, establishing her as the hero who saves herself. Subsequent low angle shots make her seem like she has gained clarity and is improving mentally. The narrative then shifts to the boyfriend, shown through a midshot of his regretful facial expression next to his bike, implying his desire to escape. The final images show the main character laughing with a friend who is helping her heal, and then reconnecting privately with the boyfriend, establishing him now as the hero who understands his mistakes.

Deconstructing Narrative: Character Arcs and Equilibrium Shifts
1. Deconstructing narrative
The high angle shot makes her seem vulnerable as if she is
not sure with her actions, thinking them over. The room is messy which can
either reflect how confused she is or that she does not have enough effort to
clean it. From the high angle shot I can establish that she feels isolated as she
is by herself. Her costume (white form of pyjamas) can make her seem more
pure and angelic, creating a trustworthy out look. This automatically gives
her the innocent look and that it was not her fault.
At first this image seems that it is an equilibrium as she
seems to be completing a normal daily event of waking up. However later in
the video you see that it is actually a disruption as she is dumping her
boyfriend through text messages.
During this scene you find out that she is the princess and
hero, as she saves herself from the villain her boyfriend.
The next part of the image is a low angle shot. This makes
the audience feel as if the main character has thought about what is wrong
and that it is improving. The light seeping in through the windows as well
indicates that something is getting better. This is because light can signify
purity and hope.
This image has changed the previous image back into an
equilibrium as she is sitting and thinking again which can be a normal daily
task.
At this moment the character in the foreground has
transformed from a princess to the hero. As you can see from this image she
is becoming mentally more powerful constantly as she feels good about what
she has done.
2. This image is taken in a mid shot to represent that the target
audience can relate to him in his situation. There is hardly anything in the
mis-en-scene except for a silhouette of a bike. This can indicate that all he
wants to do is escape the situation. His facial features can imply that he feels
regretful for whatever has happened, as if he knows that whatever he did he
should not have done
has turned from an equilibrium to a disequilibrium quickly
back to an equilibrium. This is him being in a relationship, then dumped (the
disruption). Turning back into an equilibrium of being single.
in this image the character is the villain however, in his
defeated form as he has done something wrong and there has been a
consequence to his actions.
The two characters in this image are laughing indicating that
the character in the foreground is getting friends to help her get better. They
are both laughing meaning that her mood is improving.
This image is an equilibrium as it is just friends meeting up
which is what many people regularly do.
The friend in the image is a helper as she is helping the hero
in the scene to get better and move on through her journey.
3. This image is a two shot. From this image you can see that
their relationship is close and that they feel close at this moment as they are
walking to each other. The two characters are only looking at each other not
the large amount of action in the background meaning that they feel that
they the most important in this situation.
this image is a disruption from an equilibrium of going out
with friends as they have separated from their friends and have joined each
other.
Now the girl is the princess and the male is the hero as she is
a prize of regretting and understanding what he did was wrong so he is his
prize.
