Directions: Below, you will find a list of some of the most common negative success indicators
for students today. Develop at least two positive strategies to overcome each indicator.
Making excuses and blaming others:
1. Not depending on others can stop you from blaming others when you do not like the
outcome
2. Thinking about positive outcomes about a situation possibly can stop a person from making
excuses if it is an outcome a person really wants
Tardiness (late for classes):
1. Setting clocks 10 minutes fast
2. Going to sleep earlier so your body wants to wake up earlier
Avoiding responsibility:

2. Think about the rewards as well as consequences
Partying over studying:
1. Setting a day of the week where you study so the rest of the week you can do what you
want

Apathy:
1. Finding something interesting in the subject you find not interesting
2. Join a group or honor society in school

1. Thinking about what you want to do as a job can become a goal
