Making the most of the opportunities that college offers starts with knowing, as much as
you can, about whom you are and what you want. Analyze your "college self" using
questions like the following to think through your personal profile.
What is your student status—traditional or returning, full- or part-time?
-My student status is traditional. I am also a full time student.
How long are you planning to be in your current college? Is it likely that you will
transfer?
-I plan on staying at BC until I receive my A.S in nursing, and then I will transfer to
a university for my BSN.
What goal, or goals, do you aim to achieve by going to college?
-My main goal is to get a degree in a career where I can provide for my family
better than what I am doing now.
What family and work obligations do you have?
-I have a fiancé and 2 kids, so they are a major obligation. I also have a part time
job as an inventory specialist.
What is your culture, ethnicity, gender, age, lifestyle?
-I’m African American, 23 years old, female. My lifestyle is very mellow. I like to
stay home.
What is your current living situation?
-I live in an apartment with my family.
2. What do you feel are your biggest challenges in college?
-My biggest challenge is learning to juggle family, work, and school work.
What do you like to study, and why does it interest you?
-I love to study anything that has to do with the medical field. I also love
administration. I enjoy filing, computer work, answering phones, etc.
