2. Welcome to the Rye YMCA!
As you leaf through our extensive program guide, I hope you will find a broad array of programs
and services to support your health and well-being goals. We have worked hard to recognize the
diverse needs of our members and believe that the scope of programs offered will help adults,
teens and families to grow in spirit, mind and body.
With our knowledgeable, caring staff and extensive facilities, we will help you take steps toward
a healthier lifestyle. We are also a community where you can connect with others, release stress,
and nurture your whole self. At the Rye YMCA, our top priority is to create a place for you and
your family to relax, play, and strengthen family ties.
As we approach our 100th year in Rye, the YMCA remains committed to serving the communities
of Rye, Harrison, Larchmont and Mamaroneck. We are driven by community need, guided by
community volunteers and open to all. I would like to thank our donors and supporters for their
continuing generosity during 2009 which allowed the Rye Y to provide over $250,000 in financial
assistance to individuals and families in need. We are also indebted to the many volunteers who
contribute thousands of hours of their time to the YMCA. This form of philanthropy and “giving
back” to the community allows the Rye Y to continue its mission of providing an open and
accessible environment to all, regardless of financial circumstance.
Thank you for being a part of the YMCA and helping us to build strong kids, strong families
and strong communities. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or
suggestions for your YMCA!

Developmental Assets - Giving Young People What They Need To Succeed
Young people today struggle to develop positive values, an ethic
of civic responsibility and educational skills. Along with the Search
Institute, YMCA USA and YMCA Canada, have developed a holistic,
systematic approach to improving young peoples' lives that involves
the entire community.
Search Institute's 40 Developmental Assets are concrete, common
sense, positive experiences and qualities essential to raising
successful young people.
These assets have the power during critical adolescent years to
influence choices young people make and help them become caring,
responsible adults.
Visit our website: www.ryeymca.org and click on “Assets” for
more information.
