About the Author
• My name is Regan Rose. I am 10
years old, and I have four sisters. My
mom is having another baby, and we
are very excited! My favorite book is
the book of Narnia. There is a great
ruler of Narnia, and He is the great
    Lion, ASLAN.

• Things I like to do are drawing,
    reading, gymnastics, acting, and
being funny. When I grow up, I
would like to be a mom. I would also
like to be a zookeeper, so I can take
    care of lions!
ORIGINS OF LION

• On the sixth day of creation,
God created the lion and all
    land animals.

• About 6,000 years ago, all of
    God's creation came into
    existence. Lions were
    widespread in Africa,India,the
Far East, and even in parts of
    Europe.

• African lions live in grasslands
    and woodlands.
SIZE OF LIONS
•LIONS ARE THE SECOND
BIGGEST WILD CAT.

•THE TIGER IS THE BIGGEST
IN THE CAT FAMILY.

•THE FEMALE LION CAN
WEIGH UP TO 260 TO 330
PONDS THAT'S 120 TO 150
KILOGRAMS.

•MALE LIONS ARE LARGER
THEN FEMALE MALE
LIONS AND CAN WEIGH UP TO
330 TO 500 POUNDS (150-250 KG)
MALE AND FEMALE

•Male Lions are also
 called Tom cats.
that is where the saying
"Tom cat" came from.

•Female Lions are called Lioness,
and she-Lions.

•Both have very sharp claws. An adult
lion's claw can be nearly 1.6 inches
long.
HUNTING AND PREY
• The lioness are the ones who do
    all the hunting. They hunt
    zebras,antelope, gazelles
    and even buffalo!

• When the female lions return from
their hunt, the male lion always
    eats first.

• All cubs must respect their elders.
When a lioness brings home the
    food
they have caught, cubs only get
some when all the adults have
    had their fill.

• Did you know lions can taste with
    there nose?
BABY LIONS
• Baby male lions do not start to grow
    their manes until puberty.

• They start to grow their manes at 18
months of age and continue until they
are five years old. At that point they
will have a full grown mane.

• Baby lions are called cubs, whelps, or
    lionets.

• Newborn lion cubs are born blind ,and
their eyes stay closed about three
    weeks.Once the eyes are open,the
lions' vision is amazing! They can see
    five times better then humans.
FUN FACTS
• Did you know that lions sleep
    mostly during the day?They sleep
    about 20 hours!

• Did you know that a lion's worst
enemy is a porcupine? If a lion
tries to kill a porcupine, the spine
can stick into lion's skin. If the
wounds get infected, the lion may
    die.

• .A lion's roar is a deafening
sound. It can be heard even
    by human ears more then
    five miles (8 km) away.
Funny Facts
• My sisters think I look like
  a lion because of my
  bushy, curly hair, but do
  you know what I think?

• I think my dad looks
like a lion! He took this
  picture of himself in a
  mirror.
Lions and the Bible
• This is a picture of Daniel in
  the lions' den.

• You can read about him in
the Bible in the book of
  Daniel chapter 6.

• Daniel was thrown to the
  lions unjustly, and God sent
His angels to hold the lions'
  mouths closed. They did not
  even scratch him.
Aslan and Jesus
• I mentioned the lion, Aslan in the
Narnia books. I would like to
  introduce you to Him.

• Aslan, the Lion, is the King of the
land of Narnia. Aslan isn't a tame lion,
  but He is good.

• Aslan laid down his life on the stone
table to save His people in Narnia,
just as our Lord and Saviour, Christ
Jesus died for His chosen ones on
  the Cross.
