in the Ultranet.
• It outlines how School Portal Administrators will be processed for
the Ultranet.
• Finally, it has the steps on how to create organisation pages and
apply changes to their look and feel.
Purpose of Document
3. The School Portal Admin will be able to:
1. Customise the look and feel of their school community page. This
means they will have the ability to
• Create the organisation (school) pages
• Change the background and colours of the school community
page
• Add the school logo onto the page
2. From R2 Have access to all active spaces that have been
created by a school member. The purpose of this is to:
• Update any owners or moderators for a space that has been
created by the school (eg. Transfer owners and/or
moderators to other teachers or students)
What can a School Portal Admin do?
4. When the Coach provides lead user training for the school, the coach will then
assign the School Portal Administrator to the appropriate person in the school.
(After this has been performed, each school will have at least 2 people who can
perform the School Portal Administrator role – the first is the Coach, the second is
the nominated School Portal Admin)
DEECD assigns School Portal Administrator rights to each Ultranet coach for the
schools they look after.
(If you are the coach for 3 schools, you will be the School Portal Administrator for
your 3 schools.)

1 In the Global Nav, navigate to Utilities > Control Panel
2 Select Organisations from the left side menu
3 Search for the school to which you wish to assign a School Portal Administrator
4 Select Assign Portal Administrator from the Action button
5 Click on the Available tab
6 Search for the user/s to whom you wish to assign the role
7 Check the name/s of the user/s to whom you wish to assign the role
8 Click the Update Associations button (You have now assigned the School Portal Admin role to a person in your school)

6 Click on the newly created page in the page tree on the left. This will display a second layer of tags:
Page - change the page properties and permissions or delete the page
Children – add a child page
Look and Feel – change the look and feel of the page

Class Description
community-background The background colour of the page.
NOTE: that this extends to the area immediately above the background. This area is overlaid with a
semi-transparent black image so that it always appears darker than the base background colour.
community-main-navigation The tabs that appear across the top of the page. The CSS can be used to control the colours of the
selected and unselected tabs, as well as the colour of the tab when the mouse is hovered.
community-main-navigation-text The text in the tabs that appear across the top of the page.
community-sub-navigation The sub-tabs that appear underneath the main tabs. The CSS can be used to control the colours of the
selected and unselected tabs, as well as the colour of the tab when the mouse is hovered.
community-sub-navigation-text The text in the sub-tabs that appear underneath the main tabs.
community-page-title The text that displays the name of the organisation on the upper left side of the page
community-advanced-search The words “Advanced Search” that appear immediately to the left of the search box.
There are six different CSS classes that control different visual elements of the organisation page as
illustrated in the diagram below.
Each of the classes are described in the following table

10 Select the Settings tab
11 Browse for the logo (image file) on your PC. This would usually be the school logo.
NOTE: The logo appears in the top left corner of each page. The ideal dimensions of the logo are 212 px wide by 62 px high.
12 Click the Save button. You have now applied the school logo.
13 In order to see all your changes, click Communities > Select your organisation in the My Organisation portlet, and hit the
hyperlink to your school. Your changes should now appear. Work from here to add portlets and create publications as you
would in other community spaces.
